My go-to pair of headphones.
It has always been serious business for me to find an everyday pair of headphones. Earbuds are the absolute worst, yet huge over the head styles are uncomfortably, well, huge. I have always found behind-the-neck to be the perfect marriage of the two styles, especially with a slim frame. However, this style of headphone is also quite unpopular. I usually purchase headphones in store, but decided to take a leap with these, especially after reading the reviews, and I am very satisfied.I have been using these headphones on the regular for almost 18 months now, and I find them more reliable than a golden retriever. They have not broken or bent, even after putting awkward amounts of pressure on them. I have taken them hiking, to the beach, in the rain, sleet and snow, from California to Maryland. They are easily portable (for non-earbuds), incredibly lightweight, and provide good sound. They may not be an audiophile's dream, but for someone who wants to listen to music in all environments and occasions, it is the best I can ask for. One legitimate gripe, however, is that when sitting against a wall with these on, it is hard to find a comfortable position, this is not a frequent situation.

Lovely Sound, but Uncomfortable
Street style headphones are great because they go behind your head as opposed to over your head, and snug right on your ears so all you hear is the music. The sound is beautiful and the cord is an excellent tangle-less length, but like many other users mentioned, it does hurt a little after a time, especially 'cause I have to wear glasses. As a matter of fact, I usually have to remove my glasses so I can listen comfortably. The real problem I have with these headphones is that even at a medium volume which is nice on the ears, what you're listening to can be heard from outside quite easily, so it's not ideal for public transportation commute.

good product for the price
Overall,i am very satisfied with these headphones. I read the reviews before I bought them and I expected some problems. The piece that goes over the ear did hurt for about a week. After that it seems like it has stretched out a little bit and they are comfortable. The only complaint I have is that I wish the pads over my ears were a little more snug, in order to block out more exterior sounds. I use these for exercise. I listen to a book on cd so I don't get bored. The instructor has a stereo blasting and I can hear the music pretty clearly in the background, which is ok, but does distract me away from my story at times. I guess I should mention they never slip off my ears and do appear to be very sweatproof!!

Great sound, durable headphones.
I've owned a pair or older Sony street style headphones in the past. After a couple years of beating, I had to replace them and wanted a similar brand and style. These MDR-G57G's were the perfect fit for me.Pros:- Lightweight.- Affordable.- Easy fit for any sized head.- Sound quality is not amazing like the $100 headphones but they are very, very good. The sound is not cheap by any means like some knockoffs and there is a lot of bass.- Much more durable than the past street style headphones from Sony.Cons:- Sony stopped manufacturing these a long time ago. Some stores now sell the few remaining ones in existence for $100+ which is ridiculous. If you can find a pair of MDR-G57G S2's for maybe $20, then it's a steal.

Instrument of Torture
I would rate these headphones a zero, but they actually transmit sound, so I guess I can't.First, I had to crank my Sansa Clip to the maximum so I could hear music at a reasonable level, compared to my current over-the-ear ear clips.More importantly, after 1-1/2 hours in the gym, I could not wait to rip them off my ears - I was so much in pain.Every head movement twisted these headphones, inducing another wave of pain. I must have looked like a zombie, trying not to move my head to limit the pain.I cannot understand how anyone could wear these. I guess my ears must be deformed.I guess I learned my lesson to stay away from this headphone design in the future.

you get what you pay
These are one of the worst headphones on the market. I bought them for two reasons:1. My Phillips headphones worned out. Had them for 6 years or so and they perform much better than these Sony.2. Needed to add something cheap to my shopping cart so I could get free shipping on my order :)If you are going to use them for jogging on the streets, you might have a hard time hearing your music because of the traffic noise. They sit comfortably on your ears, however, the sound quality is terrible. Would not recommend them to anybody.

Pretty decent headphones
I bought these when the speaker in my Philips Behind-the-Ear Sport Headphones died after using for about 3 yrs. The Philips were out of stock at Target, I originally bought those at Best Buy, but they don't carry them anymore. This type of product seems to come and go more than anything I have known. Trying to find the exact same model a couple of yrs later seems nearly impossible.I researched a little and found these here at Amazon. They work OK, but the loudness is not as high as the Phillips and they begin to get uncomfortable on my ears after about 45 min of exercising. They stay on OK, but just not as comfortable as the Philips. Also the cord is very long and does not use the type of elastic that the Philips uses, so it requires you to wind around the iPod many times.Overall decent but not as comfortable or as easy to use as the Philips. When these die I will try to go back to Philips Behind-the-Ear Sport Headphones if they are still made.

Good value, reasonable sounding and reliable headphones for the gym
I have been using the MDR-G57Gs' three times a week for 3 months whilst in the gym and running. At around £13 these headphones are very good value for money as long as you don't want thumping bass and very high volume. If you are like me and work hard in the gym and perspire a lot then these phones are much more comfortable than the 'in ear' of 'bud' type . Recommended for sports use onlyProsReasonable and balanced sound quality. Good detail and reasonable and detailed bass but not excessively deep. You are aware that you are wearing them but not uncomfortably so (maximum time worn has been 1.5 hours). If you perspire a lot then they are much more comfortable on the ears than the 'in ear' type.Pretty robust and reliable.Very little microphony from the long cable so jiggling the cable does not cause additional sounds in the ears.Cheap.ConsIn ear phones at the same sort of price do sound better.High impedance means that you have to turn your MP3 player up loud to get reasonable listening levels. The ear piece surrounds do get soggy but can be easily wiped. The cable is too long for normal use but this is a minor flaw.

Not Bad, not great.
Wanted some off the head 'phones and this is the sport version of the Street Style headphones. Better than standard iPod headphones but not as much volume or base boost as I would like. Great for the gym as they are firm on your head. Some days they seem to annoy my ears and I wouldn't wear them for too long! They are robust. What I'd expect at the price - nothing outstanding but do the job.
