General Primo Elite Grande Pencil Box of 12

If you want a smooth easy to blend DARK charcoal pencil this is the best. I do alot of charcoal drawings and sometimes need an area to be black and this is perfect for the job. I have read alot of reviews about how difficult it can be to sharpen charcoal pencilsnand this is true. The charcoal will break when you sharpen them. I use a razor l blade knife to cut away at the wood and and then a Derwent pencil sharpener. If the charcoal still breaks I sharpen it with just the razor blade. Takes a little bit if time but well worth the effort. Then I use a piece of sand paper to sharpen the tip. I absolutely love this pencil

The only thing that would have made it better would be a lower price. These are excellent pencils. Very smooth, beautiful black. I haven't 'razor-sharpened' them all yet, so regarding breakage, I have no input yet...

Used these pencils in a JD Hillberry drawing workshop and absolutely love them ... so glad I found them on Amazon.Beautiful darks ... but you DO need a fine workable fixative spray to prevent smearing.

A must have for charcoal artists.Dont forget a general pencil sharpener that accomadates this fatter pencil.
