Having My Cake and Crushing My Macros Too!
Finding a protein bar that doesn't taste like sweetened cardboard or pack in unnecessary carbohydrates has been an ongoing mission of mine. When I came across the David High Protein Bars, specifically the Cake Batter flavor, the nutritional profile alone stopped me in my tracks. Getting a massive 28 grams of protein for a mere 150 calories almost seemed like a typo. Most bars on the market hover around 20 grams of protein for well over 200 calories, so discovering something this remarkably macro-friendly felt like an absolute game-changer for my daily nutrition and fitness goals. Let's talk about the flavor and texture, because that is exactly where most diet-friendly snacks completely fall apart. The Cake Batter flavor is genuinely phenomenal. It perfectly captures that rich, vanilla-forward, nostalgic taste without any of the gross, lingering artificial sweetener aftertaste you often get with zero-sugar products. Since there is 0g of sugar in these, I was honestly expecting a dense, overly chewy, jaw-tiring experience, but the texture is incredibly satisfying. It's soft enough to bite through easily but substantial enough to feel like a real indulgence, completely knocking out my sweet tooth when those intense mid-afternoon cravings hit. From a performance standpoint, these are exactly what I need to power through a busy schedule or recover effectively after a heavy lifting session. Because they are so low in carbs and entirely gluten-free, my energy levels stay perfectly stable without the dreaded crash that usually follows a sweet snack. I now keep a few of these shiny gold wrappers stashed in my gym bag, the center console of my truck, and my office desk drawer. They have easily become my ultimate on-the-go snack when I need a fast, substantial protein hit but don't have the time to mix up a powder or prep a full meal. The presentation is just the icing on the cake. The bold, gold wrappers look incredibly premium, and grabbing the 12-pack box ensures I am well-stocked and ready to tackle the week. If you are serious about hitting your daily protein targets but completely refuse to compromise on taste or waste your hard-earned calories on subpar snacks, I cannot recommend the David Cake Batter bars enough. They are absolutely incredible and have legitimately redefined what I expect from a protein bar, proving you actually can have your cake and eat it too.

Satisfying and full of protein
Love these bars because not only do they taste good and have great texture, they are SUBSTANTIAL gram weight for only 150 calories. Not to mention you get 28 grams of protein. So many protein bars are less but have way more calories.

Great Protein Bar
These bars are loaded with protein using gluten-free and non-GMO ingredients, have zero sugar and taste GREAT. It’s a large bar for only 150 calories and is very filling for a meal replacement or snack. So far, I’ve only tried the Cake Batter flavor, but am looking forward to trying the others. You will not be disappointed!

Cake Batter/Cinnamon roll
This is the closest I will get to eating a sweet scented candle besides eating one The taste is a lot better and am thankful protein bar technology has come this far, filling, very nutritious, portable, good smooth and not chalky texture. Only time will tell with the Fat substitute they use in these.

Sucraloae and GMOs - Disappointed and Misled
I purchased David protein bars because the packaging and marketing gave me the impression that this was a clean, healthy snack I could trust. The branding screams health-conscious and natural, but once I took a closer look at the ingredients, I felt completely deceived. Buried in the fine print is the admission that this product contains bioengineered ingredients, which is just another word for GMOs. On top of that, it contains sucralose—a synthetic sweetener that has been linked to cancer in several studies and is widely recognized as something to avoid if you care about your long-term health. I’m not someone who’s easily alarmed or overly strict with ingredients, but when a brand positions itself as clean and wellness-oriented, it has a responsibility to actually deliver on that promise. The inclusion of these ingredients completely undermines any claim to being healthy or clean. It’s not just misleading—it feels like a betrayal of trust. And to make matters worse, the bar doesn’t even taste that good. The texture is overly processed, and the artificial aftertaste from the sucralose lingers. I’ve had plenty of other protein bars that manage to be both healthy and enjoyable to eat. This one fails on both fronts. I would be open to trying this product again if they reformulated it and removed the bioengineered ingredients and sucralose. Until then, I can’t recommend it to anyone who cares about what they put in their body. There are far better options out there that are honest about their ingredients and don’t cut corners with cheap and potentially harmful additives. This company should be ashamed of what they’re putting on shelves under the guise of health.
