Good value for a 'go anywhere ' radio
This is a neat little radio suitable for oldies, youngsters and those in between. It uses batteries that can be bought almost anywhere, there is no need for access to a usb outlet. It has a low battery indicator.A green light indicates when a station is properly tuned . On my radio the volume control gave a crackly signal for a very short distance at the low end.Otherwise the signal is loud and clear. For some reason the fm signal appears to be a little better quality than the am signal from the same transmitting station (or perhaps it's my imagination ! ) Overall it is a good product and at a reasonable price. The battery compartment cover is hinged, no danger of losing it (see picture)

Good little radio
I was asked to give an honest review of this radio, so here goes.First, the delivery was right on time so full marks for that.Second, I unpacked the unit, which was well packaged, but also easy to access. The bag it was delivered in was more of an issue, being a bubble filled 'Padded Bag', I had to cut the top off in the end, but on the plus side, it wasn't going to fall out en route. The radio itself is compact, but has a extendable aerial which goes on forever almost, great in an area which is notorious for bad reception. Loading the batteries (not supplied), there is a small indicator light which shows if you need to start thinking about changing the batteries.I turned it on and was surprised by the great sound quality on the FM band. The AM band had a slightly different tone, but this is not to say it is inferior, and probably down to my hearing. I am being ultra critical here, as it doesn't affect the listening experience. I particularly like the green indicator light which shows you have reached the optimum position on a radio station when tuning in. It has always been a faff on my other radios I've had over the years - well done who came up with that addition. The window which shows where you are tuning into, is clear and well laid out. The on-off/volume control is easy to use, great if you have less than full dexterity in your fingers (I'm not bad, but do have some issues with small switches, due to a little arthritis in my fingers and a cramping problem). The tuner, does suffer a little, as all other units I've used in the past, of a similar size, with a little stiffness. This seems a problem on this type of manual radio tuner generically. Someone will fully conquer it in the end, just a little further to go on this with the techy Wizz kids. This does not detract however from the fact this is a nice little radio. At todays prices it is good value and a vey good sound reproduction from something this small. I forgot to mention earlier it also has a jack for a head set or ear buds, if you don't want to disturb others or just want some 'you' time.Overall I recommend this unit, if possible it would have been 4.5 stars, but loses half a point due to the very minor tuner issue.Well done Prunus, I think you have got this right.

Catches fire after just three and a bit months' use
Great sound, good little radio, but after 3 months intermittent use, it suddenly gave out a puff of smoke and died ... do obviously a crap radio, despite all its many good points (great sound for a small radio, easy to use, and cheapish ... but you don't expect them to crap out after just a few months!)

Prunus portable radio.
For the price it seems an excellent bit of kit. Sound quality good and feels robust. No problem tuning to the stations I want. Easily fits into a pocket using handy carry bag.

Very clear reception
I often struggle to get good reception where I am but this radio which I have had for a week is excellent. It is also very light. My only negative would be that its a bit bigger than I was expecting and larger than some I have been used to. It stands up safely though without the need of little supports that others require. It has a strap and a protective sleeve and is going to be very useful.
