I bought these bird boxes to stock a 9 acre woodland. upon arrival none were damaged and none had protruding nails. They all had good hinges and hanging brackets, as well as screws to hold the lid down. I hand made some aluminium protection plates for the 30mm holes, to stop woodpeckers or squirrels eating any chicks or damaging the entrance hole. Now they are up they look great and (so far) none have been damaged. Last week upon visiting the woods a blue tit was seen going into the box!!

Wood is quite soft so don't know how long they will last, but I have given them a couple of coats of fence preserver and put stainless steel plates with holes over the openings. No prospective nesters yet, but time will tell.

Easy to fit with a loop on the back. There is a top opening that is screwed down - recommend you leave it screwed down, no need to hassle the birds! Wood on the sides is untreated on the outside so might not last too long in our wet weather!

These are a lot better than I anticipated ,they are well made with a hinged roof and decent timber has been used and at a price that's unbelievable .To make them blend in I have painted them with the same fence treatment and put aluminium protectors on the front to protect from predators, the very next day I had a blue tit giving it the once over so I am sure he might be moving in shortly.I would definitely recommend .

Firstly I chose this supplier over others as they were showing DARK WOOD BOXES. The Boxes that arrived yesterday are all of a LIGHT COLOUR WOOD that will stand out like a sore thumb when mounted on trees! Secondly one should note that, as with any box of this type, they are unlikely to last more than a couple of years or so (depending where sited) - the comment is not, however, specific to this seller but all sellers of this type of box. Thirdly, and again not specific to this seller, I always apply a Metal Hole Plate to the box in an attempt to prevent Woodpeckers and Grey Squirrels accessing the bird eggs/chicks. PS: The plate is then "blacked".

These nest boxes are strong and look good on my wall. The birds started investigating them within minutes of them being installed. Have had lots of enquiries as to where I purchased them.
