Hon&Guan 8'' Soffit Vent Cover, Round Vent for Bathroom & Home (200mm)

Didn't want to mess with any roof venting and so this was the perfect DIY solution to exhaust bathroom fan out of the house through siding. Easy installation, and painted really nice to match my siding color. Highly recommend!

Worked great, it came with a galvanized screen to prevent outside guest entry into the home.

Most people don't know this as the directions and description does not say this. The 3 black wings on the outside are meant to keep tension and keep the vent pipe secured to the round hole you cut, however some people might have a wall that is thicker than the space between the cover and the wings (such as exterior walls with siding and sheathing). If that's the case, the wings can easily be snapped off because they won't serve much of a purpose with a thick wall. Simply pull the wings off. They snap off easily. Also, you can easily pry off the white face/cover with a flathead screwdriver..you will need to anyway in order to screw the tube to your wall with the supplied screw holes on the front of the flange. You can replace the white cap afterwards. which will hide the screws. You can use glue or adhesive too if you wish in addition to the screws, and to glue the white flange cap in permanently. You don't need to glue it though as there is enough tension between the cap and the pipe. "Glued and screwed" is always better than glued OR screwed alone, as any good carpenter knows.

its really nice to have the screen inside the vent to stop bugs ect from getting in.

Looking at the marketing pictures, it would be fair to assume that the bug screen portion of this item can be removed at one's leisure. Update: you can remove the screen if you are very careful. This is important for determining the optimal exhaust flow necessary for the exhaust generating machinery such as a dryer or air conditioner as the screen impedes a certain amount of airflow. You may want to consider one size bigger for your installation and install an expanding diameter of duct if you plan on keeping the bug screen. For example, for a 6 inch air con exhaust, the 8 inch unit sold here would provide better air exhaust than the 6 inch unit with the bug screen choking 20-30% of the exhaust.

Inside diameter is 7" outside diameter is 7 ¼"Was pretty crucial it be 8" there's no way to secure the 8" duct to this vent, and it fits so loose inside the duct that it blows right off when the exhaust fan is on. All it has are these silly plastic tabs that I assume are supposed to act like springs. Pretty much useless, don't waste your $ if the 8" fit is important
