DuroMax XP196V 196cc 5.5-Hp Recoil Start Vertical Gas Powered Mower Engine Motor

The XP196V was delivered with an oval corrugated paper filter. I need a replacement, have been trying to match filter with those used in other lawn mowers, no success. Spoke with DuroMax "customer service" - they do not have filters in stock and claim it will take at least 3 months to obtain a replacement air filter. Sadly, unless someone has a suggestion for alternate air filters, I have a nice blue (oversize) paperweight, but certainly not a usable lawn mower engine.

Engine works great. I replaced a old BRIGGS engine on a TROYBILT MTD mower. The mounting holes lined up perfectly. I did change the three old engine mounting bolts 3/8 inch with three new metric M8 22 mm bolts.The old 7/8 inch blade adapter (MTD p/n 748-0376) fit fine.

My Briggs mower finally quit on me so I thought I would give a new motor a try. It took me a little over two hours to install. Not being a mechanic kind of guy, it was surprisingly straight forward to install.was able to mow down some pretty overgrown grass out of the gate. Definitely a goof product.
