Brilliant product
We need a lot of firewood and are fortunate to have lots of field boundaries that regular need maintaining. This Saw Horse has made the process of sawing logs to the right size so much more efficient, much easier on my back and, very importantly, much safer for an amateur like me. Strongly recommended and excellent value for money. The instructions are pretty clear, though it is a bit fiddly to assemble. You need to set it up for left or right handed use (though it doesn't take long to correct it if you make a mistake with that).

Good, but not straightforward to assemble
Bent brackets, weld spatter in threads, and atrocious instructions - but, after some fettling, turning stuff around, and peering at the picture on the box, I got there within an hour. Not a bad bit of kit in the end and one of the cheaper options: Strong and sturdy, it's the safest way to cut firewood I know of BUT you really do need to crank the clamp down onto the chainsaw bar to stop it slipping.

Great product, slightly let down by the instructions.
This is a really well made piece of kit, and I'm delighted with it. The instructions could be considerably more helpful, though. The photographs look as though they have been reproduced many, many times from a photogravure plate made in the last century. If you're going to put it together, first of all DO read everything. Put all the fiddly bits on a large piece of paper and write their designations in the diagram on page 2 next to them. Lay out all the other pieces and you might write their designations on them with felt tip. Photograph the exploded diagram so you can enlarge details or, if you have a printer/scanner/copier, print an enlarged copy.Only finger tighten the nuts until you've managed to get the whole thing together. One step is REALLY tricky because you have to attach a nut to a bolt from the side because one of the plates is already attached, blocking access from the top - it's slightly easier if you have another person but this is the point when you realise the person who designed this never actually put it together. If there were additional holes in the plate and a longer bolt (and I can see no structural reason to prevent this) this step would have been a doddle. But as I say, once assembled, it's a really sturdy galvanised saw horse and will be endlessly useful.

Wouldn't hold my chainsaw securely
I've given it 2 stars as the log holder is OK but it lost 3 stars for the poorly designed chainsaw clamp.I didn't have any issues with the instructions or putting it together, either the instructions have improved or there's lots of incompetent buyers who can't follow simple instructions going by other reviews. My main issue was the clamp for the chainsaw bar, mine just wouldn't clamp it securely as the chainsaw twisted each time in use and on one occasion the chain hit the chain guard and another it snagged the chain, very dangerous.I asked on here for any tips on clamping it and the concensus was to use a big bar for extra leverage on the eye bolt but this didn't work either as the whole clamp would move and twist worse the more leverage you applied, maybe I received a faulty one but it wasn't safe to use, so returned for refund.

Good. Not rocket science to assemble.
This arrived earlier than I’d expected so good work on that front. Others have said that the instructions aren’t good but personally I just spent 5 minutes laying all the parts out in the order shown on the first page and then worked my way through the instructions. Yes, the photos they provide could be clearer but it’s not rocket science- took about 40 minutes.I’ve chopped up a couple of logs so far (sadly I think my chainsaw will need an upgrade tomorrow) and it works well and seems robust enough- it certainly allows for much more controlled chopping. I’ve done quite a bit of domestic chainsaw work so I’m used to chainsaws, but this certainly does add peace of mind.

Chainsaw holder not worth the extra money
This is a sturdy item, good construction and detailed assembly instructions, however the chainsaw bracket will not work. No matter which way i fit it, it has insufficient rotation with the R pin inserted so i won't be able to use the chainsaw holder which makes it a complete waste of money. I paid £65 for this but, in it's current state it's only worth half that hence the 3 stars. If it wasn't for the current situation I would return it.

Good product badly assembled
Were to start good service from AmazonFirst thing to do is throw away the instructions hardest thing to understand go by picture on box and you will not be far away once built the tube that the saw attachment goes In to was tight with a silly r clip needs fixed and when its on the chain saw was not sitting square so had to take off out into vice and use a bar to square it off now it looks the part and works well if you are handy and can solve problems once all the bad workmanship is fixed its a very handy tool and will do the job just fine

Great piece of kit - makes log cutting so much easier.
Have only used it a couple of times so far, but oh my goodness, why did I not get one of these years ago! It makes it a simple task to cut wood single handed. And the metal guard on the chain adds a extra layer of safety.I’ve read a number of earlier reviews complaining about the poor assembly instructions, but if you are a competent DIYer, you should have no problems. Ok, the instructions could be clearer, but actually all the information you need is there. Took me about 30min.Incidentally, it can be assembled for left or right handing. So far very happy with it.
