great - and works with platform beds.
I bought this for a full-size platform bed that my 2 year old sleeps in. The platform has raised edges that the mattress sits within and we don't use a boxspring. This rail fits snugly in the gap and is very secure, even without the straps being used to anchor it in place. My daughter has rolled right up against the rail and it stands firm. I would have liked to have put 2 on the bed, one on either side, but there is not enough room because the rail pushes the mattress tight against the far edge of the bed. That's not really a big problem though and we are very happy with this product. If your child's platform bed is against a wall, this will be perfect.

Perfect for platform king size
Works and looks great on our pillow top king size platform bed. Spent too long searching for a rail that would work with a platform (no box spring) bed. This assembled easily and is high enough to keep my 3 week old and 3 year old from rolling out. Sure, the 3 tear old can climbOver it if she wanted but she can also climb out of bed. This works great to prevent her from rolling out while she's asleep.

I'd buy it again.
We've only had it for about two weeks, but so far my 2yo has not fallen out of his new bed. In fact, the first morning I came in to find him asleep between the mattress and the rail, like he would had fallen had the rail not been there and the rail held him so "snug" and comfy that he just kept sleeping. He kicks it, leans on it, and it's now showing any signs of coming out. I haven't given it five stars because I thought the security belt that goes to the other side of the mattress was very difficult to tighten. I also see a warning label that says not to use it on a bunk bed - I wonder if that is referring to the top bunk as we are about to get bunks and the 2yo will be on the bottom, I'd like to be able to use it there and I'm not sure why I couldn't.

Great for beds with slats!
I have a queen size bed with slats under a pillow top mattress. This works perfectly with those high hinges!Negatives:1) The instruction is over-simplified A) You need to put the cover on one side BEFORE snapping them together. The instruction sheet shows it, but doesn't say it. B) It was difficult to figure out how to use the pull-up release levers to lower the rail. The instruction sheet doesn't clearly identify them nor explain how they work.2) The release mechanism is very tight. Possibly due to the snug fit of the cover. It's VERY difficult to budge the locks when my arthritis acts up. Someday I'll remove the cover to see if that makes dropping the rail less difficult. However, the negatives aren't a deal-breaker for me. This product does what I need it to do, at a price that's reasonable. I'd buy it again.

I didn't think these would be nearly as great as they are
I didn't think these would be nearly as great as they are. I LOVE THEM. I have one on each side of my sons bed (very active sleeper). The are extremely durable and tough. They are not plastic, but steel. A pain to install, but worth the time and effort and not really that hard at all. They also make changing the sheets and covers hard, but again its a small price to pay for his safety. His bed sits 3 feet off the floor and he kept falling out of the bed. It was a miracle that he didn't hurt himself. I've slept in his bed several times and they hold up beautifully with me pushing against them. I would buy again and I definitely recommend.

Easy to install and has prevented my dog from falling out of bed!
As corny as this sounds, I bought this for my old pug, who has fallen out of bed 4 times in the past year (don't ask!). I bought this because OF COURSE I won't make her sleep on the floor - she's been in my bed for 13 1/2 years! The assembly took less than 10 minutes and fits securely on my king-sized mattress. I like the mesh panels that get air flow through them, a nice touch on a hot summer's night with the fans blowing. I do wish it came in different colors so it wouldn't look so hospital-ly. Over all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

... a "Big Girl" bed sooner than we would have like because of us expecting our 2nd child
We had to move our daughter to a "Big Girl" bed sooner than we would have like because of us expecting our 2nd child. We got a daybed that is covered on three sides with wood. So I ended up buying two of these and it goes the whole length of the bed, so its pretty much makes the bed a bigger crib. But since I made it into a crib like bed, it is really nice that the sides fold down and allows her to get into bed and allows us to read to her while she is in bed. And in the mornings when we get her up, it allows her to get down by herself. I think it makes he feel more like a big girl. At times though it can be a little difficult to lower the rail. But I don't really see that as a bad thing since I feel like it keeps her in there more securely!

We've had it for one year now and it's still in the same condition we received it and it's easy to clean
It is as expected from reading the reviews of others. It's not top quality, but it is durable. My 1 and 2 year olds shake it, kick it... We've had it for one year now and it's still in the same condition we received it and it's easy to clean. I'm happy with this purchase and think it will last me a good decade or more. No complaints other than it's a bit short in length, but it is the only bed rail I found that can be used on all sizes of beds and for that, I love it.I won't have to repurchase new rails as beds change over the years.

Better than nothing for a king size bed
This was the only bed rail I could find for a king size bed. It's sturdy and does what it's supposed to do but it should be taller and wider. If you're using it for an infant who doesn't roll yet then it's fine. Once they start moving around it's not safe. Baby can roll over it as it's only a few inches higher than the mattress. Plus it's only 3 ft wide so you have to use pillows to block the rest of the length of the bed. I guess this would be ok for an older child if you're just trying to prevent accidental roll outs. But not great for an active infant or toddler. But like I said it is the only option out there for a king size bed that I could find so it was better than nothing.
