It works. I’m not very artistic, and had a large chunk of tile missing on one tile and small spots on other tiles that needed repair. In trying to match the swirly multi color pattern, I quickly found that I needed to start with the darker color and repeat - much later, like the next day, with the lighter color a to get the mottled swirly happening. The last coat I used a sponge instead of a sharper. Suggestions - Go easy on the second and third coats to not eliminate the original dark. Allow yourself several attempts and days in between to dry. I had to mark the spots with pieces of tape to be able to find them to go back and put sealant on them they matched so well.

I had some cracks in my travertine floor that I wanted repaired. I had someone come out to give me an estimate (outrageously expensive) and he told me exactly how he was going to repair the tiles. So, I did a bit of online research and came up with this product. It was easy to use and comes with everything you'll need. It filled the cracks well and it dried very fast (I'm not sure that's a good thing because it really cuts down on the "oops time"). I had to do some clean-up with a razor blade but everything came out OK. My only problem, well two problems actually, with this product were: 1. trying to do the color match was a real hit or miss proposition. It's not as obvious as they make it out. Fortunately for me I was repairing travertine tile that has a lot of color variation and vining so close was good enough. Trying to match a solid color tile would be an effort. The second problem is trying to match the sheen of the surrounding tile. They included a small container that might do that but, in my case, didn't. I'd also be concerned that their solution would wear away over time. If the light hits my repairs you can see where the cracks were. But, the contractor I got an estimate from said his repair would have the same problem. If you look down on the crack you can't see it.

This is thee tile fixer upper! I had a few chips in the floor tiles, I forgot to take before, but I have afters. Although the coloring is a bit light, it worked really well. The directions were super easy to follow also. This was a great investment for me.

It’s a nice idea, but it would help to have artistic skills with a good eye for color. I’ve been trying to match floor tile for over a week. I’m not a young person and don’t have to best eye for colors. I keep mixing color darker than I want it to be. You also have to make sure paint is shaken/mixed well, and control the drops required accordingly to mix chart. I recommend finding an artistic person to help with this project.

I was skeptical about trying this and it took me a few days to bring up the courage. i just thought it wasn't going to match or i would do it incorrectly. The amount of money I spent on this was nothing compared to having to replace my floor. You can barely notice the fillers as the color chart made it so easy to do. My only wish was that the color white bottle was twice the size of the others. My floor is light gray and had to use 6 drops to 1 drop of black. I highly recommend this product. I cant give stars to longevity as I just did it but i am sure it will last a long time.

So I had a fairly deep gash in my slate floors and I decided to try this CalFlor stuff because of its low cost. I watched some videos online and I carefully packed the gash with putty. Waited for it to dry (I have radiant heated floors so it dry fairly quick). Next, I carefully followed the instructions...made a light mixture of gray which I topped with tan. I couldnt still see the gash, so I was quite satisfied. I had some residue around the gash so I decided to wipe it off with a wet towel. DO NOT DO THIS! It only wiped off all my paint and I had to start again. My guess is that I need to put the lacquer layer on it for it to set... Anyhow, I had to start from square one...so good to note, if you mess up you can start over. So I started over and loved the results. I then put a thin layer of lacquer on top (a thick layer will cause the colors to run) and it is currently drying. I plan on putting a couple more layers on top to ensure that when I mop, I don't need to do any touch ups. It is also fair to note, I have trained in painting (ie portraits etc) so I do know how to paint. I don't think you need painting knowledge but you do need to take your time and go from light to dark.

Package has confusing / conflicting directions on how to blend the colors. But it's impossible to do that by eye because it darkens when drying. So the process involves mixing the paste with the color drops, then applying and using a hair dryer to dry it. Then when you realize it's the wrong color, you then have to go back and add drops to the remaining putty. Each cycle of this takes 15 minutes. Then, even when you find an acceptable color, there's no way to repeat it because the drops were added in a progressively smaller batch of putty. Next, there's no way to apply this to many small chips. It goes on like spackle with a wide plastic card. Good for a big chip or crack, but not pinhead size chips. Lastly, I really thought this was an epoxy type of product where it would harden rock solid. It's just a soft putty and then they want you to paint it with a lacquer at the end. Well, that won't hold up to floor traffic and mopping.
