works great
This is my second heated runner. The first was just not wide enough for my ramp, but it worked great. That is why I ordered a second one. It is great for frost and snow. It also is non-slip. It has helped my ramp greatly. I use this ramp for my elderly dog to take him to do his business. He can not do steps anymore. My out side cats have discovered that it is heated and they love to lay on it during the day. Highly recommended.

Watch out if you buy these. Please read my feedback
Please read all of this before you buy them. We bought two of these along with the power cord and connector covers for a Christmas gift (just under $500 for all components). They were delivered on November 20, 2021. They were hooked up the week after Christmas on our back deck for a walk way to our hot tub and at first they seemed to work ok. but now that we have had them set up for about 50 days, they won't even turn on and they have been engulfed in ice and snow with no melting abilities at all. I realized today that I was beyond the January 31st return window as it is February 14th today, but I wanted to give the Seller a chance to accept a return and/or issue a refund before I left a review of how bad that they are. But the only response I received was that it was past the returns window. Not worth the money at all. Please, please don't be fooled by this product OR if you do buy them please be sure to keep the packing materials close by and watch your return window better than I did. I understand that some electronic items can be temperamental. So this may have been the only bad set but I would entertain trying them again if the manufacturer or company wants to discuss a credit or standing behind their product and allowing a return.

Great for Pets
I adopted two senior small dogs this past May, so this is my first winter experience with them. Placed an eight foot pet ramp over my deck stairs and placed this mat on top during an ice storm. Over an inch of ice and this mat kept ramp free of ice. Gave durability a 5 because it's still working great after second ice storm in less than 2 weeks. So far well worth the money, but most importantly safety for the girls.

Great While it Worked
They worked great at first but then after the third snow storm I kept having to reset them. I checked all of the connections to see if water got in but it didn't. I thought it was the plug so I ordered a new one. Went to set it up again and it kept tripping the reset button. I ended up returning them as I could not get them to work again. Sad as they were helpful at first. Longevity does not seem to be a strong point with these. Too expensive not to be able to use them for several years. I will have to look for another brand.

Made a slippery ramp walkable. Serves its purpose so far.
I haven't had a chance to use it to melt snow, but it made a slippery ramp walkable. Now my older dog can go up and down, and so can I. The ground fault breaker on the unit is confusing because it clicks when you push TEST, & when you push RESET, so it always sounds like its blown. Standard GFCIs stay in when reset. Also the BIG GFCI is so close to the plug that I cannot close my out-door "In-Use" weatherproof outlet, so it is not weatherproof as intended when the mat is plugged in; it would be better down a ways. And it would be nice if it had some sort of loops along the edges to put fasteners through to keep the entire mat from sliding. Hopefully it lasts for a long time, and continues to serve its purpose.

Clears Snow and Ice Even in a 30” Blizzard
I have both the residential and the commercial Powerblanket in 12x120, and this keeps snow off almost at the same pace. The main difference is the commercial is made out of sturdier material! I use them side by side to clear a two foot path at my ski house in Maine. Snow falls off the roof right in front of our side door and these matts keep it snow and ice free even after a 30” snow storm. I’m buying the 24x60 one for my back deck so I can grill in the winter!

Doesn't heat to the edges.
I am disappointed in these mats for keeping a clear walkway path. There is about 2 inches on all sizes that do not heat up, making this mat even narrower than the 12". You can also see from the pictures that it appears that the heating elements are coiled in sections which allows the snow and slush to build up between the sections on the mats in this light snow fall. I can't imagine what it will be like when it is the 2" an hours that it states it can handle. There is not much tread on these mats, so I hope they don't become slippery too. The mat at the top of the deck stairs is a different brand and heats to the edges.Update - January 2018 - The mats worked a little better as the season went on but now 1 mat is only functioning on the first 10% of the plug end. See picture. Manufacturers nicely responded to 1st review.

Great design, poor construction
I liked the design, especially the anti-slip feature, but the unit was not sealed well enough, and the second time I used it, water got inside and shorted out causing the safety breaker to trip, making it useless. I had to return it.

Fantastic product
We are repeat customers and have bought this product 5 yrs ago, strong, reliable and relatively energy efficient, they can be combined to create a long safe walkway, we use them for both our home and assisted living facility

Should not be sold as a stand alone item
This item cannot be sold stand alone. If you don't buy a seperate electric outlet at around $100, you can't plug it in and it is useless.

Melts snow well
Works well to melt snow. A little narrow but the wider one is just too big

doesn't come with a power cord
Guess I didn't read enough reviews... I'm giving this a 3 based on quick arrival and it looks like it will work - but I really can't say yet as I had to order a power cord and that is taking another 4-6 weeks. :( Not impressed
