RiceSelect Couscous, Moroccan-Style Non-GMO and Vegan Couscous Pasta, 26.5 Ounce Jar

This is great. I heat up one cup of vegetable or chicken broth in the microwave for three minutes. I put in a half a cup of couscous and put it back in the microwave and just let it sit and it is totally ready to eat in about 10 minutes.! I add to my salads. It’s delicious.!

LOVE this. I lived on it as a poor college student. Now I use it as a lightweight, filling, tasty, super-easy meal to take on overnight backpacking trips. My preferred recipe for a good trekking meal: a cup of couscous, an indiv packet of olive oil, a packet of ready-to-eat chicken, a packet of pesto mix (powder of course for the ultralight carry). Boil up some freshly filtered stream water. Throw all the ingredients in and stir it up. Let it sit in a koozie for 5-10 minutes. Such a great filling warm meal at the end of a long hike! (Finish with a desert of dried fruit for fiber and you are set!) Unfortunately, the result, while tasty, is not terribly photogenic. So will not post pix.

This product is a quick start to some tasty dishes.

I used to buy the RiceSelect Couscous in my local supermarket but they stopped carrying it (despite annoyingly continuing to carry a wide range of other RiceSelect products). I was happy to find it on Amazon at a good price, and continue to make my "bachelor chow" and other dishes with it at least once a week. :-) I like the fact that it's a super-simple 1:1 measure of water to couscous, and all I have to do is boil the water, drop in the couscous, then cover the pot and set it off to the side for a few minutes. Highly recommend! (Hint for a really fast dinner: Drop frozen veggies into the water when you start heating it, then drain a can of chicken or tuna on top of the couscous as it firms up & let sit covered for about 5 minutes. Season and enjoy!)
