Low cost great performance
I had Dewalt drills and Drivers. They were old but they worked great. Problem is the Batteries were no good anymore. I got tired of having to recharge my battery 1- 2 times a day just to get a job done. lost productivity. After pricing out some batteries, and finding I would need to not only get new batteries, but a new charger and use an adapter to fit my older dewalt drills, I decided it was time to go another route.Got a hold of a fantastic deal for two large Ryobi batteries with a feww tool, and I jumped at it. That one choice now allows me to carry one less tool.To the matter at hand, I got this to complete my other main workhorse tool, the impact Driver. So many models to choose, but I liked this one. Got it and tried it and oh man was I like a kid in a tool store. I literally was looking for stuff to test it on. It works great. Now that I've Ditched the yellow, ITs Ryobi Green all the way. Looking at their selection, great prices and value to be had all around.

Great driver for weekend projects and backyard mechanics, but buy the larger mah battery.
Heck of a deal. I've had a Ryobi One+ drill for projects around the house for many years, needed a new battery, so I looked on Amazon. Found this impact driver and took a chance, it's worked great. It claims 1600 in. pounds which is around 130 ft. pounds but it removed a nut I torqued to 140 ft. pounds so that's good. I have big hands and it fits comfortably, fairly balanced weight with a battery. It's a great tool box/garage addition for weekend projects but I don't know that I'd try using it as an everyday work tool.I give it 4.5 stars but I'll round it up to 5 because the batteries aren't the best, they don't seem to handle as many charge/discharge cycles as before. THIS DRIVER DOESN'T COME WITH A BATTERY so it's not really the drivers fault.

Absolutely love this tool, don't know why I waited so long!
I do a lot of home improvement work and have a cordless drill/screw driver. I bought a Ryobi set over 15 years ago and they are still working fine. I'd seen these new impact drivers, but wasn't sure if they were worth it. Found out they are less likely to strip a screw head!Well, I got converted! Had a deck professionally installed and the crew used an impact driver to put about 3" screws into pressure treated lumber, no pilot hole, just drive it in! I was amazed at how well it worked and have always hated getting pilot holes drilled and of the proper size. I was very impressed by the clutch mechanism on the Ryob. You begin slowly and it seems like a normal screw driver, but as torque builds up the impact mechanism starts and finishes the job. If you lose good contact with the screw, the impact stops, and reduces stripping the head - very nice!!!

Excellent impact driver and very handy.
I bought this as a quick power tool when working on cars. I mainly use it for small bolts sizes like 8mm - 15mm. It is very strong though, so you have to be careful when driving in nuts and bolts because it has enough torque to strip things. Very handy and is fairly lightweight. As with most buyers of this particular impact driver, the only gripe is the fact that the led only comes on with the trigger squeeze and goes off immediately if you let go of the trigger. Other than that, there are no complaints. Economical on power too. On Ryobi's normal battery, it will last 3 days or more on a single charge with normal use. I like the styling and the rubberized grips make it hard to drop or slip from your hands. Even though I had one gripe for it, it still gets my 5 stars. GREAT BUY!

Decent for the money
I bought this item to use with my 4ah 18v batteries that I already have. I have a Ridgid 12v one that I love, but the 2ah battery life is short for large projects. This was cheaper than buying a larger 4ah battery for my Ridgid. The power is not as good as the Ridgid even though this is much bigger and more voltage 18v vs 12v. I thought it might have a little more power given its size and higher voltage, but it is simply in a different class of tool. I still prefer my smaller but more powerful Ridgid, but this is handy for large battery draining jobs, or when I just need 2 units handy. My one big gripe is the led lights only work when the tool is IN operation. Any other cordless tool I have with lights, a quick tap of trigger prompts the light to turn on for a period of time so you can see what you are lining up with. This unit the lights ONLY work when you have the trigger held on. Just poor design, or a cost savings in production. Either way it is an annoyance when working in dark areas.

Ryobi's the way to go
I made a decision years ago to limit my portable power tools to the Ryobi ONE+ brand. It was a good choice. So my drills, router, string trimmer, leaf blower, sawzall, jigsaw, and other stuff all use the same batteries. To that list add the impact driver. Swapping and reusing the batteries across the product line is a good idea. These batteries are pretty expensive, but last well using them the way I do--I think constantly running them down is good for their ability to hold a charge.Professionals may scoff at the Ryobi brand as being "lightweight", preferring Makita and the like. But for the active home handyman like me, they work perfectly.

Has Driven Many Deck Screws
Probably not the most durable or most powerful impact driver out there, but it's lasted me a good 2 years now.I bought it to replace the fences around my parents' property and probably drove at least 1,000 3" #10 deck screws with it. I rotated between 3 batteries over the course of several days. It got quite hot on multiple occasions but never quit. It's very loud; this is not the new "Quiet Strike" model. Ear protection is recommended.

In my opinion this is the one to buy.
I have used this impact gun for tons of projects and have been extremely satisfied. I also own the brushless version of this tool which is garbage. This is the one I would recommend. This tool has very precise speed control using the trigger and seems to have more than enough power. I have driven 3 inch lag bolts with this tool. I have also installed thousands of screws.

On spec. Bare tool.
Using this bad boy with the 6aH battery and, so far, it’s da bomb. Just what was needed.Plastic wrapped in bubble, right on time. Have no need of a case so this was as ordered. If it tanks, you’ll know. But so far, good deal.Update Nov2019:Built a porch this summer, a fence, odd jobs here-there-everywhere. No issues on performance. The quasi-automatic hex chuck lock thingy no longer accepts bits as smoothly as it did on Day One. But that's a function of age and dirt I suspect, and not what I bought the tool for.Still 10/10 for me.

Good and solid
Excellent value for the money.I especially like the all-round lighting.Makita has a feature where the light stays on for a couple of seconds after releasing the trigger. It would be nice if this had that feature.

Excellent driver!
I had to repair a section of deck railing. This driver sucked the old screws out without any effort on my part, even the ones with rusting heads. It was even better at putting the new screws into pressure-treated wood. Lots of power. Highly recommended!
