What type of battery does the volta have? Will it last in the cold?

It’s a 4900mAh battery. I use it for outdoor soccer games mostly, and we’ve had some pretty cold games about 25-35° F. I can easily capture 2 full games with a stop for halftime, and could do a 3rd as I usually have a full GoPro battery and 1-2 bars on the Volta left. I haven’t noticed the cold causing significant degradation in its first full year of use. I’m sure there might be a mild impact just given general understanding of batteries and cold, but it hasn’t been significant in my experience. In non-cold environments I have easily gotten 4 hours with a full battery in the GoPro and the Volta being full. I use it with a Hero8 so don’t get the control options, but I can use my phone to remotely start/stop and power down if I need. The Volta keeps charging the internal battery when off. For its price, the battery life of 4+ hours alone is worth it to me, because I often don’t have access to recharge quickly or change batteries.
