Oxford Dictionary of English

I use the apocalypse as the reason for purchasing physical books these days.The Oxford Dictionary is a great one to have. Also, there’s an Oxford Etymology of English which is a fascinating read when one is curious about where the heck some word came from.When the lights go out forever, I’ll enjoy flipping through these volumes.

This is a great small-sized dictionary. I use it almost every day!

I used to use the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary. I needed a paperback dictionary for a year and I really enjoyed using Oxford. The entries have concise definitions. I was worried that it would be too British because I'm from Pittsburgh. It's not. It's great👍

Resource for my writing-a must have.

I replaced a book I lost with this book...and it may be kinda' early for a review...I only just received the Oxford Dictionary of English today. So far I like it...I looked up a couple words, found some that I had never seen in a dictionary before, like "shitless". I like the paper it's printed on, seems like nice rice paper...seems like a lot of work went in to making this book. I appreciate it. pleasantly surprised it's a hardcover.

This is the real deal! Classic, thorough, and unbeatable resource for writers, researchers, and students. A bit heavyweight but worth the extra bicep work!! Absolutely recommended for every home or office.

it was great when I presented this book and the Blacklaw dictionary book in front of the judge and asked him which laws are we abiding by today this book of English or the book of the dead the book of Necker Mency, the Blacklaw dictionary

I bought this for my grandma who lives to read, she reads it daily and not just to look up words.

Very good and had everything we needed.

This is such a big book the pages are thin but still it has 350,000 words it’s the best dictionary ever and, it has like 8 pages about countries, prime ministers, alphabets and the periodic table etc etc

I have always appreciated an Oxford Dictionary and when I saw thisnew edition I turfed out decades old books. I leave it on a table andit is regularly in use. I read a lot and often find words never seenbefore. I need understanding to make sense of what I am reading.
