I bought this five foot replacement cord because I recently picked up a used PS4 Slim that was missing its original power cable; I just needed a reliable and basic wire to get the console running. Right out of the box, it is a fairly standard and functional cable. However, the first thing I noticed is the thickness. It is noticeably thinner than the original OEM cords supplied by Sony or Microsoft, probably by about 40 percent. Despite the thinner build, the actual plug connection is perfect. It fits incredibly snug and secure into my PS4 Slim without any loose wiggling. This standard two prong figure eight cord is highly versatile and will easily power a PS5, PS4, PS3 Slim, Xbox One S and X, and Xbox Series S and X. It is important to clearly flag that this cable does NOT work with the original Fat PS3 console, which requires a completely different, thicker three prong power cable. While the cable functions flawlessly for most users, the thinner design does raise some questions about long term durability and safety. Because the wire lacks an official UL safety certification, it is worth monitoring during heavy use. A few customers have reported that the thin plastic coating can get noticeably hot or even slightly gooey during long gaming sessions. I personally have not experienced any excessive heat buildup while playing my PS4 Slim, but it is a valid safety concern to keep in mind if you play in a poorly ventilated area. At around five dollars, virtually all buyers agree that this is a fantastic value for a functional replacement cord. The length is not too long nor too short; it is just perfect for a standard entertainment center setup. While it may not feel as heavy duty as the factory cables, it works perfectly fine for my current console. I am hopeful it will last for years to come so I can confidently reuse it on future PlayStation consoles or other devices.
