💼 Your data, on-the-go!
The SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer Micro is a high-speed USB flash drive designed for efficient data storage and transfer. With a compact size and a generous 2GB capacity, it can hold nearly 3 CDs worth of data, making it an ideal choice for professionals who need to carry their important files wherever they go.

Economical and versatile storage space for its time!
I used this USB flash drive in college for short term storage of documents, .pdf files, and other types of files for my coursework, and it served really well for this. The USB plug fit inside of essentially all computers of the time, and the USB 2.0 that it had was the state of the art at the time, and offered fast enough data transfer for a flash drive of this size. It would still work well as of the time of writing this review, though my modern standards this product will seem small. It might still be a good choice if you can find it for a bargain price at a garage sale or second hand shop, and if you don't need to move around files that are very large. It should still work well in most modern computers except for very small laptops and computers smaller than laptops like iPhones and iPads, because they may not have standard sized USB ports on them. This flash drive has a retractable plug on it, so you can retract it inside the case when it is not being used to protect it. I think some users had trouble with this because sometimes the retraction lock mechanism would not engage and it would try to retract when trying to plug it into the computer, but I did not have problems with this happening. When you plug this flash drive into your computer, one unique thing about it is it has an indicator light that is fairly big, and yellow-orange in color. Some users compared it to the large yellow-orange indicator lights that were sometimes seen on kitchen appliances from the 80s and early 90s. You will either love that or hate it, I think. A final thing about this USB flash drive is that it may come with a simple software package on it called "U3" that the manufacturer (SanDisk) fancied would be appreciated by users, and it really was never very useful, convenient, or helpful. You will be able to delete it off by doing a hard erase and reformat, or there are instructions online about how to delete it, and this will free up a little additional space on the flash drive for storing your files. I can also confirm that you can erase and formate this flash drive for any operating system, including versions of Mac OS going pretty far back, like back to about 10.4, up to present day, and likewise for a lot of versions of Windows. I can not testify personally for it working on Linux, but I do not see any reason why it would not.

EXCELENTE
Like many i saw all reviews before buying these U3 device, i have bought 11 of these, they work perfect so far, for those that don't like the u3 just format the device. For me the U3 is the best, at the office i can't install software even so they are free, so with U3 i can have many helpfull tools. I really recommend it.

The "Standard" flash drive
This drive, for me, is industry standard. It doesn't have a cap to lose, its cheap, and durable. It does have annoying U3 software pre-installed but it can be removed easily enough, and some may find it useful I suppose.

Corrupt Files
I have only been using my USB for one week now and I keep getting corrput files on this drive. Some of them repair themselves but not back to normal and the others cannot be fixed. A search on google will show others complaining of corrupt files. I do not recommend this product at all. Buying a different brand today.

Okay Thumb Drive
Some users do not like the U3 software, but I have windows XP on all the computers I use at home and work, and so far the U3 has worked without issue on all those systems. It is somewhat useful, as the U3 software loads a system tray icon while the drive is plugged in, which includes a one-button eject (as opposed to opening safely remove hardware screen and stopping the hardware). The retractable design works well so far, no lost caps to worry about. While plugged in, the device has a rather large orange glowing surface, which I don't care for, but it's something you get used to. I find it to be almost a benefit at work, since it's hard to forget to take such a bright and ugly thing with you when you get up. By the same token, it's not exactly discreet. I had some concern given other lackluster reviews on this product, but it has worked well for me thus far. All in all, this product came down to price. It was the cheapest 2 GB available when I purchased it, and since it works fine, I think it was a smart buy.

SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer Micro with U3
This product absolutely met my needs. I use it to transfer files between non-networked PCs. It is a tiny little thing with the retractable USB plug and is remarkably lightweight. The retract slide glows amber when the unit is 'live' which reminds you to do a 'Safely Remove Hardware' before unplugging. I have not made much use of the U3 feature yet nor the included trail programs.
