Great fun with lots of extras in this Advent Calendar
I purchase Advent calendars for my grand children each year (both for at my house and for theirs.) My choice this year for my grand son is this wonderful Santa workshop version by Playmobil. The box opens up to a great workshop scene that you fill as each day passes. The set includes Santa, an angel, a reindeer and two elves as well as furniture, tools, and toys to fill the workshop as each day passes.I really appreciate that each day has either a large toy or a set of smaller toys that make opening that day lots of fun. There is even a small memory game included. I also appreciate that the back of the box shows what the surprises will be on each day so my daughter can theme any other treats accordingly.Playmobil is a quality product that I can count on. I will certainly be buying more this brand advent calendars in the future. I purchased this one even though it is an older version as it had the treats that I liked the best this year. Advent calendars are fun that way, as long as December has 24 days, it's good to go.

Cute but many little pieces
I enjoy this as a advent calendar for my little one because I do not want one with candy. I tried this one rather than a lego one because of the cost and was trying to avoid little pieces. This one is cute, but it still has many LITTLE pieces. So if your little one puts things in his/her mouth, this might not be safe for them. And with little pieces, we have to work hard to keep them from getting lost. The pieces are cute, but wish they stood up a bit better. Similarly, the little play structure is cute, but did not fit together well. I as able to fix it and make it sturdy with some tape. Also, in the beginning there are lots of "toys" but not much to do with them. Still overall satisfied for the price.

Due to poor planning, by the time I made it out ...
Due to poor planning, by the time I made it out shopping for chocolate filled advent calendars for the kids they were sold out in all local stores. I decided to buy the Playmobil gift set for my five year old a stand in and it's been a huge success! She loves opening each day's door to reveal the surprise behind it.So a few things about this:- There is a nice cardboard back drop provided in the box which provides a set for the child to set up all the pieces from the calendar throughout the month. My daughter enjoys setting up the scene and readjusting to the new addition every day.-There are a few days that require small pieces to be put together (the bicycle, the sled, etc). It's easy enough to do and only takes moments to put together. This is a great advent calendar to countdown to Christmas. While my daughter is still young I now plan on getting these every year instead of chocolate.

Fun for all for a few years if you have a young one
My 5 year old loved it. Playmobile quality is good. There are a few dud days here and there, but overall it kept here excited each morning for the new day. Year one is done and no lost pieces, we plan to reuse the box and the fold out stage. I suspect in a few more years it will show some wear and we'll probably lose something as there are a number of very small pieces (I would not suggest this fan any kid younger than three or one who likes to put things in his/her mouth). Slightly expensive for what you get but all of the options (Lego) looked to be the same or more. Years ago I did buy another great Lego Advent calendar but they no longer offer that product.

Reusable advent calendar
We were given this advent calendar as a gift instead of a chocolate one as i don't let my kids eat candy. My 3.5 yo and 18 mo both loved it. It could provide around 20 mins of independent play each day. The items are cute and there were a lot of them. They were a choking hazard so I had to supervise the baby but there's a warning on the box.I would have given 5 stars but the box that you open each day with the toys behind isn't reusable so I had to buy one with little drawers so I could use again next year. I think creating this scene will be a fun christmas tradition for our kids.

Great except for one small detail
My five-year-old son loves this advent calendar! He is excited to open each door, and enjoys playing with the set. I've been careful opening the doors, so I think I can reuse this next year. My only complaint is that three of the smaller items are backpacks, which the elves can't wear because of the collars on their shirts. Only the angel can wear them if you remove her wings first. This frustrates my son because he wants all three of the play people to wear the three backpacks. Other than that, I highly recommend this toy.

My 3-year old loves it!!
This is so great!! My 3-year old can't wait every day to open each door. Better yet, she spends hours playing with the "workshop" which is more than I could have hoped for. My only complaint is that the box with the numbered doors is not really reusable. I guess the idea is that you buy a new set every year, but I was hoping to be able to make a tradition out of it and use the same one every year. Instead, I plan on buying or making my own box/wall hanging. Also planning on buying another couple sets for my younger kids to have for their own.

Lots of fun for 4 year old
My four year old races down the stairs every morning to open the advent calendar to see what is inside while my seven year old opens her Lego City advent calendar. The Playmobil set has minimal assembly and is more like receiving a gift each day for your house. The Lego advent calendar has directions and you must assemble your "toy" of the day for your city scene. The Playmobil is perfect for my 4 year old as she doesn't have the patience yet to follow Lego instructions. This has been the most fun we have had counting down to Christmas.

SET : PLAYMOBIL 5494 'CHRISTMAS ADVENT 2015'
★ PLAYMOBIL★ 5494★ 2015★ AGE GUIDE : 4-10 (Not for children under 3 years)★ 101 pc★ Assembly instruction booklet includedI always pop a chunky advent calendar in my basket to have from Amazon, and when the price decreases (which is usually the case); I place the order, which happened in October this year. The colourful, quality box measures around 40 cm x 30 cm x 8 cm overall and comes in a strong outer carton for safe transit.◄ SPOILER ALERT! ►Like a box of crackers, the box has a cardboard overlay detailing the contents, day-by-day, which I have gone on to show in my images to give an idea of the content this year. I discard this layer when giving as a gift so the recipient doesn’t know what to expect behind each window. If it is opened carefully, there is no evidence of this.Underneath, on one side of the box is a tree-framed, snowy scene with a path meandering off into the distance with an inbuilt hanger to put on a wall, if required. If just standing the calendar on a flat surface, which is quite successful due to its depth, the hanger just looks like the moon in the wintry night sky and doesn’t spoil the scene. On the other side are the advent calendar windows, showing Santa & his elves, busy with preparations and loading the sleigh, watched over by an angel. The windows vary in sizes and the numbers are easy to spot, each surrounded by a bright yellow star. They are relatively easy to open, by depressing and pushing back on the tab, and then tear the perforations. The rewards occasionally need basic assembling, adding to the fun.The contents are designed to go on the colourful backdrop – the base of which measures around 46 cm maximum x 24.5 cm maximum x 24 cm high maximum, and is a little fiddly to put together in terms of marrying up the cut-outs on the ‘roof’.I have included an image of the contents for the first four days, which are a mixed bag so far, IMO!Oh...and there is a bonus; an extra surprise (but we haven’t got there yet ~ Day 12, I think?):A great toy set...not just for Christmas, because the various pieces can be used in general play once all the windows are open...giving something extra for the big day onwards...and a solid reminder of a Christmas past!ooOooEDIT : January 2016I think that for a penny short of fourteen pounds (which I paid at the end of October 2015) this set was excellent value for money. The contents were exactly as described, with Santa appearing on Christmas Eve, as you would expect. The 'extra surprise' - a little boxed 'Memo Game' set is good quality, too ~ 20 thick cards each just short of 5 cm square with rounded corners ~ 2 sets of 10 different pictures to play, e.g. 'snap' with. That and all the other pieces have been played with on & off ever since.

better than chocolate
So far this has been the highlight of Christmas for my 3.5 y/o daughter. Every morning she opens a door to find a little surprise. And every day she sets up and rearranges her pieces and wonders what she will find tomorrow. I did a little rearranging of pieces to give her a more exciting start, but otherwise it's been fabulous. We will pack it up and save the pieces for her to play with next year.better than chocolate. would definitely buy another next year.

Not for very young children
A fun advent calendar but some of the pieces in there I literally had no clue what they were. My son enjoyed playing with it though, however I wouldn't advise it is for small children as my 3 year old nearly swallowed a toy football that was in there!

Advent
Nothing wrong with the advent calendar at all except some of the gifts that make up the Christmas scene were absolutely rubbish . The gifts included a small pack of cards that were too big for the scene and didn't go with the theme . They seemed as if they were a filler just to make up a gift. I suppose I should complain to playmobil and not amazon as amazons part in this was to provide the calendar. My children have had these calendars for the last few years but it will be the last i buy as some of the gifts were poor.

Beautifully detailed, an annual purchase from now on
My sister made me an advent calendar back in 2004 out of matchboxes, papier mache and the Playmobil nativity sets, after all this time it is getting rather battered and loved but my two young children adore it. I was delighted to discover Playmobil made their own calendars a few years ago but at the time the price was out of my range and I didn't think it looked like you got much inside for the price. How wrong was I! On the spur of the moment I ordered this the last week of November, my husband was not impressed when he realized I had spent nearly £25 on an advent calendar/Seasonal toy. However when it arrived one look on the back of the box swayed him. Note: Don't let the recipients of the calendar see the back of the box for it shows you what you receive behind each door! Each door holds something for Santa's workshop, e.g a blue basket with six teeny tiny animal figures (When I say teeny, I mean teeny! About half a cm in size. My five year old took to carrying them around in his pocket he was so delighted with them), a wheelbarrow and teddy bear, carrots for the reindeer, a "present" with toy racing car. There are four little card boxes behind various doors which you need to fold up into presents. This advent calendar comes with four figures - An angel, two elves and Santa himself (Who also comes with his list and quill on 24th), all hidden behind a different door. Inside the box there is a beautiful cardboard backdrop, you have to pop out some parts and fold it to make it stand. It really is gorgeous and the children loved setting up the scene each day. The card game you get is just a little box with a simple game of snap (Or pairs) inside. I think my children would have preferred an extra toy for the grotto but it is a nice idea. I will definitely be buying these annually. The excitement on my bairns faces each morning was wonderful and something you would not be able to get from a chocolate calendar. Plus they have a beautiful toy to get out every Christmas.
