Q: Can you plug headphones into it to practice quietly?

The output jack on an electric guitar requires it be plugged into some type of amplifier. If your primary goal is to use headphones, there are a number of headphone only amplifiers available for as little as $30. Check out the SONICAKE Guitar Headphone Amp Plug on Amazon. I have one and use it for travel or if I just want to play on my front porch w/o attracting too much attention. The one mentioned has a rechargeable battery, a reasonable controllable delay effect and an aux jack to play along with backing tracks, or audio/video from your phone. I carry it in a gig back pouch with an aux cable and a cheap pair of earbuds so even if I bring my guitar to the lake, I can hear it w/o disturbing anyone.

Q: How loud is the humming noise?

Had to purchase new strings. The strings that came with the guitar were not very good. Have some difficulty keeping this guitar tune.

Q: Will this take a fender neck and hardware?

I don't know for sure, but everything seems to be standard sizing. I replaced the nut with a bone nut for Fender strat type guitars and it fit perfectly, so I think you'll be okay with other upgrades as everything looks to be the same.
