Adidas Smart Soccer Ball

My 11 year old and his soccer mates love it. My husband loves it as well. It is expensive, and yes it will not make you into a super soccer star. However, it is nice to see the rotation and speed and where you kick it. I married into a soccer family, both in-laws have coached, my husband, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law have played since they could walk up into college. They are very knowledgeable but love this ball as well, in fact, my husband almost took it from my son from Christmas. It is a good investment and it really motivates the kids. It doesn't read from a moving ball; however, it is a conversation starter with them so they can actually see where the kick and how, despite just what the coaches says.

Not sure spending $200 on a ball that does nothing that I can do with my eye is worth it. The reason I can say it cant do anything that I cant do with my own eyes is because it measures Velocity, Spin and flight path. The flight path is obvious i just watched the ball fly on that path, so it's literally pointless. The next is the spin. I can see how a ball spins and instantly know where contact was made. any soccer coach can do the same thing but maybe this can be useful for a kid who was not sure where they kicked the ball precisely. Still the spin rate is subjective, you can get a spin rate of 135 or 538 but that spin rate means nothing still other then you hit under the ball to much or too far the the outside which again is obvious based off of the visual amount of spin.Finally the most important thing for the kids to know is velocity or kicking speed. The kids i coach all kicked it 5 times each for a top speed and an average speed. The fasted of them was 62 and these were u14 boys, then I ran the same test with u12 girls and one of them kicked 62 as well which was not accurate in my mind. I decided to kick for a measurement and I smashed it 8-10 times and not once did it give me a reading and we were all shooting the ball from 25 yards away on a frame, so nothing was different. I had to slow down to hit just a normal kick which was 55mph just to get a number. It was frustrating to say the least. So far we have played with it a total of 10 hours and two rounds of soccer golf. The ball is thermally molded and meant to replicate a very high level match ball and it does a very good job in doing so considering it is full of sensors. Even saying that the ball was always the shortest off the tee in soccer golf each hole that required a long drive. It makes me think its missing something in the roll or bounce category to match a top end ball. Again the sensors in it and all of the rechargeable battery components are in the ball so to get as close as it did is applaudable. It needed a software update and I don't know if that was the ball software or the app but we will keep testing and update you.The reason for the one star is spending $200 on a ball that really doesn't do anything for me seems pointless. I can buy an extremely accurate radar gun for less and be able to a speed reading on any one of the balls kicked as well as be able to hit a moving ball or take a prep touch prior to striking. The smart ball only reads a dead ball strike and I think you hit one or two of those a game, its just not as helpful as I had hoped.Keep trying Adidas you have the team to sort through this and make the next version great.

I don't use this ball, my son does. Do not get this ball as a regular practice or game ball. It's for training purposes. While you have it charges up and your Bluetooth device connected it will show you statistical information while you kick it. Stats like speed, height, spin, ect. With thins information you can adjust the way you kick the ball. The ball does everything it advertises it does but it wont change your game unless you use this information and practice to make the changes you want. There are much cheaper ways to do this but this is by far the coolest I've ever seen. I only gave it 4 stars because of the price. It's would have been 5 stars if the price was $100.

ball has look, feel & weight of normal ball. charges easily and bluetooth links app and ball without difficulty. Disappointed in the information provided. Speed & video Ok,but spin data questionable and arc data useless. Great potential but not quite there.

I really love this ball... Of course you do not have to think you'll became a champion because of it.. But for sure you'll improve a lot...You can have fun with your friends and get datas on your performance just like a real professional!!

I have had my eyes on this product for 4 years now and couldn't wait to finally receive. Plugged it in and lights didn't do anything (used several different outlets), tried to pump it and wouldn't inflate. Found out later that this has been discontinued for some time now. Was on the phone with Adidas support, thinking that they might be able to help considering it is/was their product. You can Google it and it takes you to their website, but if you go directly to Adidas and search it nothing pops up. I do not recommend this product at all due to lack of support and updates on working ball. Disappointed in the fact that I waited so long to get a crappy useless training tool. Wish to death that this has worked so I may get better as it claims to do.

Super schnelle Lieferung. Der Ball war ein Weihnachtsgeschenk. Die Jungs (14 und 8 Jahre) sind ständig mit dem Ball draußen und schießen was das Zeug hält! Sie sind begeistert und es funktioniert alles einwandfrei! Kann den Ball für fußballbegeisterte Jungs oder Mädchen nur empfehlen.
