Great brush pen. Fun to use, difficult to master
I bought this pen after seeing artists all over YouTube and elsewhere talking about how fun it is to use. It is fun to use, but definitely difficult to master. The quality of this brush pen is very high. It was easy to install the ink. After installing it, you need to wait several minutes for the ink to soak into the brush. But once you do, it's time to experiment! The brush tip can make a very fine line if you have a steady hand. It varies the width of the line going from fine to thick easily. The ink itself is a nice solid black with great coverage. It dries quite quickly, but if you're not careful and working fast it's easy to smudge. All that said, I can see why artist hold this pen in such high regard, though I think it will take me quite a while to master it.

Smudge-resistant once dry, does not dry fast on cold-pressed paper
Brush point, easily can control thickness of brush line. Is smudge resistant IF dry when adding watercolor too it OR after watercolor is dry if sketching on top, I found does not dry well on Cold-press paper and therefore smudges on that type of paper. Black and opaque. Excellent value for the money as comes with two cartridges of ink and can buy refills. Changed the quality of my sketches and illustrations. Would recommend over other brand brush pens for the smudge proof and refillable qualities. Have used on regular paper and does not bleed through (ie for journals ) I included the sketch of pocketbook as I spilt my whole cup of water onto it accidently and this is the limited bleeding it did.

You need ones
This is the fabulously unique Pentel Pocket Brush Pen !!!! ======== My favorite GIFT to have at the ready. A surprise conversation/creativity starter. ======== Amazing opaque black ink covers without bleed-thru !! Replaceable cartridges (comes with two, btw.) Never leaks. ======== The perfectly designed brush tip produces a subtly expressive line that causes any doodle/note you make to have real character. It's difficult to explainโฆyou really need to experience it for yourself.

solid inking pen
thought initially that the pen was dry but apparently the barrel unscrews relatively easily when the cap is on and that was why the ink was not flowing well. so keep that in mind when buying. writes beautifully. on the positive side, it is a solid shape, weight, feels great and is fun to use as i am growing used to it. it is a comfortable size and only slightly taller and thicker than my micron pens.

I will buy again. Love this pen brush!
This is really a pleasure to use. It takes a little while to get the ink into the brush tip but that is just the process. It glides beautifully. I have made 2 good size drawings with them without any ink issues. Dries quickly but can smudge if you don't let it dry. I will buy again and I recommend. It comes from Japan so the packaging is in Japanese. Easy to assemble easy to use.

Perfect brush pen!!!!
My new favorite art form!! My favorite thing about these is that I can illustrate and then watercolor over it with NO INK BLEED!!! ๐ I love the organic feel of the strokes as well. Absolutely in love and this is my favorite pen - more like a brush - forever!! Very opaque ink but can be "thinned" by moving it sticky and lightly over the page. Really perfect.

It immediately made my drawing better!
I'm not exaggerating -- without any change in skill, my drawings looked better. I've used Sharpie and ball point pens -- and I never really liked it. I think it's the variable line width, which is more like nature. (hardly anything in nature is a single, invariable width) . So, things like leaves, waves, clouds, texture, looks better with this pen. Also, with felt and ball pens, you need to do crosshatch for shade. This pen does shade, if you turn the pen at an angle and do a light stroke. It picks up the texture of the paper. That's also nice for sketching, because it's a lot faster when adding shade. I don't know why -- but it's better than a Tombow brush tip. With this pen, uYou can do a very fine, perfectly dark line. Like a single hairline width - much finer than the narrowest line I can get from a Tombow (or similar) brush pen. . Also, the ink combines perfectly with watercolor, either before or after.

An elegant brush pen with a wide variety of possibilities
This has become my favorite pen for drawing and collage. Note that it is a brush pen...it's supposed to have a soft tip. If you are looking for a felt-tip magic marker, this is not the tool for you. This pen creates both tiny dots as well as graceful flourishes. If you paint with watercolors, you will find that with the correct pressure, this brush acts much like the flat sweep you get from a mop brush. The ink is matte and takes some time to dry. Due to the pen's cap, you will probably end up with ink on your fingers...but that's part of artistry. The sharpness of your edge will depend on the paper's tooth and the amount of pressure you use. It's an elegant tool and I find myself reaching for it over any other ink pen. I plan to buy more in case they discontinue it, as happens so often with art supplies. I've added a photo of some test shapes I did for my sketchbook, just with this pen and my imagination.
