Civil War Reproduction U.S. Kepi Cap

This is a reasonably accurate kepi. It does fit as expected. My hat size is 7 1/4. However, the description boasts, "Genuine Leather Bill and Neckstrap", and I can tell you, it is not leather, but some sort of vinyl, or synthetic, with a fabric backing. It is most certainly not leather. I am sorry to say that it was because of this boast -- that genuine leather was used -- that I purchased this kepi, preferring it above others. It is always a sad disappointment when a merchant uses deception to endorse a product.

Definitely runs small, I normally wear a size 7 hat and this one seems more like a 6 3/4, possibly a 6 7/8. It's wool, so some warm water and a day long wearing may help to stretch it out, but we'll see. Nicely made. As others have observed the bill does not seem to be leather, but a synthetic of some sort.

I am keeping this one but it is the third one I ordered , sizing on these is strictly hit or miss . The numbers are entirely meaningless . It is hard to gauge if they run small large or just plain willy-nilly . quality and materials are satisfactory but fitment issues take away from the positive qualities of the product .

I purchased this hat to wear at work. I work as a conductor on the railroad. My last one lasted about two years of continuous use. By that time, the sweat band began to deteriorate and crack. The rest of the hat was in great shape.

The fit was great and the hat seems to be well made. I purchased this as a gift and was concerned about the possible quality. There are several vendors who sell this items at very different prices. I decided to go with a midrange price and hope for the best. When it arrived I was please to see to was a nice weight wool, fit well, and the construction was a good quality.

High quality. Historically accurate. Fitbon the bigger side.

A fine, well made hat, probably as close to The Real Thing as one can find. The wool cloth does make it a winter cap for me, though. Real sweaty in warmer weather.

My item arrived on time and in excellent condition. I am extremely pleased with the hat. The design is such that I feel like I now have a piece of History. Although this hat is a gift for a family member, I fully intent to obtain one for myself.
