Microsoft Student With Encarta Premium 2007 Non-rebate

I've purchased this product twice before, the first, Microsoft Student w/Encarta Premium 2003 and second, the 2007 version. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I needed to purchase the product again and was thrilled to have found it on Amazon.com at such an amazing price. Very useful homework tool for school-aged children!

Microsoft Student is packed with features. Many are geared toward elementary/middle school students, and being a grad student I never really explored them. The Encarta franchise is a little obsolete as the encyclopedia software just can't compete with the abundance of information freely available on the internet, although if you have a younger child you don't want surfing the web, this will be a great solution. Also, the Mind Maze trivia game (recycled from versions of Encarta dating back to the '90s) is a lot of fun. You can read about the various other features above. There are two though that I find truly useful. The equation solver is a quality standalone application that comes in handy from time to time. My favorite feature is the Encarta Dictionary. It is surprisingly comprehensive and includes a thesaurus, translator, and multilingual verb conjugator. It sits in your taskbar and is always a click away, which keeps you from having to open up a browser each time you want to look up a word. I wouldn't pay full price for this package, especially with newer editions available, but a few really good features make this a must-have if you can find it for cheap.
