Beautiful, strong cover
After reading a lot of different reviews, I was choosing between this FitFolio and the Invellop Leatherette Case with the smart cover. However, the beautiful design and sturdy look to this FitFolio swayed me over!My criteria for choosing a case:*Beautiful, unique look*Sturdy*Back protection*Secure front coverNote: When choosing a case, the smart cover aspect was *not* important to me. I'm used to using an iPod touch, and switching off the screen has become an ingrained habit. If you want a smart cover, this is NOT your case. There have been reviews that Speck might release a smart cover version of this, but I haven't seen an official announcement. This Speck FitFolio is beautiful! The Invellop has great reviews on Amazon and everywhere else, but it looks like every plain case I've seen. It's the standard look. I wanted something that I would easily distinguish as my own. I chose the Artic Blue color, because I thought that was a very classy look, while still being unique. Additionally, take note that not every FitFolio has the same materials. The plain colors have a more faux leather fabric, while the designs have a sturdy canvas. However, it appears that this canvas has been treated in some way, so it does not seem like it'd pick up dirt. It has a more plasticky feel than I anticipated (I was expecting painting canvas).I've read complaints in my search that the FitFolio doesn't stand properly, but my notches work perfectly. A slight force isn't going to tip it over, and it stands well even on my bed. Also, some people have reviewed that there was an additional hole on the back -- this was for the rumored microphone before the official iPad mini release. This additional hole is NOT on my case, so Speck must have updated the Folios. All the holes match perfectly, and I have almost no trouble hitting any of the buttons. The one that's the most awkward for me is the lock/silent button above the volume controls -- I have to flick it with my fingernail. As for the fit -- it's VERY secure, and holds very tightly. When first installing my iPad mini, I thought I had gotten a warped one since I couldn't get it to fit right away, but then when pushing down and re-positioning a bit, it snapped in securely and perfectly. It holds so well, that grabbing the cover and dangling the rest was secure. (I did this test above my bed, of course, just in case I was wrong.) It is difficult for me to get it out, but I don't plan on taking the iPad out very often. I did take it out 3x already, and have seen no scratches from the installation/removal.Also, the back isn't entirely covered. You can see this from the official product pictures, but I don't think the exposure is a concern for me right now. The only I seem to have the back exposed without the flap covering it too is if I dangle it from the cover. Not sure about you, but that's not something I do with my tablets. One last note: the sound quality. I haven't tested this a lot, but it seems to have not that much difference to me. I'm used to the 4th gen iPod touch, which isn't a full sound anyway though. I started playing "Madness" by Muse, and inserted the iPad mini while it played to see if the sound quality was altered a lot. Seems mostly fine, and the holes match perfectly with my case. (I tried to take a picture, but I just can't focus it well enough.)Also, thanks to Amazon for such a quick delivery. I did the Super Saver Shipping (5-8 days), and it arrived in 3 days.

Speck FitFolio is bright and green
I bought the Speck FitFolio for my iPad mini and so far it seems pretty sturdy for my purposes (I'm an artist who works from home). I haven't had the issue other reviewers seem to have had, which was that the stitching on the cover came undone. Mine is still all in one piece, and in the month I've had it, I've been toting it around in bags, leaving it on car seats, brought it on a LONG road trip, and even left it in a hot car (the heat temporarily warped the top cover a bit, but it went back down to normal rather quickly). It has three little grooves on the inside of the front flap so that the iPad can be propped up in landscape mode. It doesn't snap into that position, though, so if it's on an uneven surface doesn't really stay put. Not a problem thus far, but then again I'm not that picky. The FitFolio is nice and slim so that the iPad's minimal profile isn't lost--good for those of you looking for something you can still cram into your tote bag without taking up too much real estate.I haven't dropped it yet, so I can't speak to its drop-protection factor, but nearly the entire outer edge of the iPad is covered by the cover's thick plastic casing (the exception being where the headphone jack and the power plug are). If the case were OPEN if/when it was dropped, I'd be wary because the edge of the case doesn't come up OVER the edge of the iPad: they're flush with the bezel. Hmm. So if the iPad fell flat on its screen there wouldn't be any heavy duty protection. If you dropped it with the case closed it would probably be fine, as the casing seems dense enough to provide ample cushion. This is a decent product and I would recommend it to someone who was looking for light to moderate protection. If you're one of those thrill-seeking, cliff diving, jet skiing, moto-crossing, extreme wave surfing, snow boarding, sky diving, tree scaling rapscallions who for some reason need to take your expensive electronics on all your escapades, this is not the iPad cover for you. This wouldn't last a week crushed into your gear pack mushed up against carabiners and cliff bars as you scale the tallest peak in whatever mountain range it is you're dominating this month. Also, if you have toddlers or kids who are rough on electronics...no. Just, no.It came with the Invellop Crystal Clear 3-pack of screen protectors, and the one I've installed is great. I've written a separate review for those.

Quality
Bought for a family member. Have to say I'd heard Speck products were good but this was / is a great quality product. Looks-wise, the colours (vibrant), the materials (sturdy), the fit (precise)...all bang on! As you'd expect, easy to clean but also once on, it looks designed for it. You may think that that statement sounds daft but I've bought enough iPhone, iPad cases etc that even when you first put the item over the electrical product, they don't sit right. This case for the iPad mini is still looking great and fits perfectly as it did when I first bought it. Reasonable price (for the quality of the product) so its a 5 stars for me. Nothing worse than 6 months down the line the case looking all skewed, and rough, this one still looks and performs as new.

No Sleep/Wake Function!
Bought this for my new Ipad Mini. Overall, I really like the case. It fits well & protects the ipad. However, one of the reasons I bought the case was because it was described as having the "sleep/wake" function. Well..... IT DOES NOT!I end up having to just push the sleep/awake button on top of the ipad, when I'm finished & close the case.Have to say that I'm a bit miffed about this, but will keep the case, as I can't be bothered with the hassle of the returns process & I really do like the quality of the case overall.Would have been 5 stars, but for the false claim. Ho hum ;-(

A nice case
I was getting a new iPad mini for christmas and my wife suggested a speck case for it. Having looked on various websites Amazon was by far the cheapest. It is excellent for the job it does and the colour help differentiate between our iPads. I just wish there had been more colour choice at the time. All in all I was and still am very pleased with it.

Lovely cover
I was pleased to finally track this case down as I'd missed the opportunity to get it last year and this design may well have been discontinued. However, I managed to get it and I am very pleased. It is a cute design, protects my iPad well and is a great fit. I also love the way it fastens...very secure. Would certainly buy Speck again.
