Good and Bad
We did not purchase this item through Amazon but wanted to give a review. We used the mower twice and the belt broke. We replaced it and it broke the 3rd time we used it. We had to take it in for service at an authorized dealer and it took them seven weeks to get it back to us. Now it runs great. Just a few negatives.... if you are heavier than 200 lbs. you might have an issue with a hilly yard... especially if the grass is a little wet. There needs to be a height adjustment added between the lowest and the 2nd lowest. Low is too low and the next setting is too high. Same with 1st gear and 2nd gear. 1st gear is soooooooooo slow. 2nd gear is too fast for mowing 1/3 acre in town. It needs a 1.5. Overall, it works well for what we need. I just wish it had a few adjustments.

Operating at safe speeds
I did not buy this mower from amazon, but I thought my opinion might help others. This mower did a good job on my yard on the lowest setting for mowing. As far as the speed setting, #1 is plenty fast for mowing and good control of the machine. I feel like this is a great mower for a fairly level yard, due to fact it does not have a floating deck for hilly terrain. If you have a large yard with no obstuctions you can increase the speed to #2 without getting hurt except for turning to sharp. This could cause the mower to turn over, especially if your in #3 or #4 gear. At these gears this mower is really fast and to hard to control if you had to turn quickly. Common sense is needed when operating one of these mowers.

Horrible tractor
This unit is garbage. Vibrates horribly when blade is engaged and is really bad at going up small inclines. The worst part about this unit is Poulan's customer service. They are rude and nasty and willingly admit that they have no knowledge about this tractor. Their response is take it to a authorized service dealer and pay extra money to answer my questions. I wrote a bad review about this tractor on Poulan's website and they refused to publish it. Buy another tractor. STAY AWAY.
