Another good one in the Settlers Series by Gina Coon.
I enjoyed this story very much. I read another book about the Orphans and Orphan Trains of this era and they told pretty much the same story of abuse and reasons for adoption of the children were mostly for the free work the family would receive from the child. These stories really touch my heart because my husbands Grandfather was placed in an orphanage in Illinois during this time period - he ran away from the orphanage at the age of 9 years old and lived on the streets of Illinois for a few years and then made his way to Texas where he spent the rest of his life. How very sad for these children to have to live a life of deprivation and no love or parental guidance. This story was very well written and I'm on to the next of the series and feel I have found another author to follow. Thanks for another good story. If you like historical fiction and a good clean; feel good story get this one. It's a good price too - another asset!!!

Must Read~Grabs Your Emotions!
When the first book, 'Building Fences,Mending Hearts' ended, you could almost feel Connor's struggle to 'fit' even though Isaac tried. Was glad Connor stayed to try for the three years but as soon as I started reading this Right Choice I could see he had to do what was best for him. His hardships & struggles in his formative years shaped him into the honorable man & child advocate he was in every sense of the word thru out the entire book. Loved it!!! SO glad he stood up for not separating siblings, is anyone in the current system hearing this?! The heartbreak of the times are real, the author brings you into the story so beautiful as she challenges current thinking/procedures etc… of the Orphan Trains. But then as Naomi pointed out, don't fuss if you don't have a better idea but does that make it right?!Thoroughly enjoyed this clean read that held so much more as it pulled you into their struggles. I wasn't quite ready for it to end with these set of characters, they became such 'friends'!

A genuine reflection of the time
I loved this book! It is an easy, relatively quick read. However the story, characters, and their surroundings came alive for me. I was heartbroken reading about the stops the orphan train made. And although sickening and horrid, I applaud the author for not shying away from the reality that faced many orphans... abuse, and sometimes even rape. It was a fact of life during this time and white washing it doesn't make it less so. I love the male characters is Ms. Coons' books. They are strong, but also sensitive, fun, caring, and protective. And you don't spend half the book waiting for them to stop being jerks and embrace love and family. These men, tho scarred, address their issues and resolve to move on. I love it. Book 3 is downloaded and I can't wait to start it!

Definitely the Right Choice
I really enjoyed this second in the Silver Springs MT series. I was impressed by the obvious research and accuracy of details about the orphan trains. The caring personality of Connor that we first saw in "Building Fences, Mending Hearts" is very well developed here and shown in his compassion for the three orphans. Naomi touched my heart in that she truly cares for the children in her charge and she is a character who deserves some happiness of her own. It is a tortuous path that finally brings Connor & Naomi together. The author, Gina Coon, is one to watch.

great story
Gina Coon is a new author for me. I love to read and was running out of books on my kindle to read. Found under Christian literature which at first turned me off, but I decided to read this as I always enjoy a western novel. I was pleasantly surprised as this did not preach religion, and the characters were so well developed as well as an extremely interesting story. I will now buy a few more novels by this author. This is a definite winner for me. Thank you Gina Coon.

Wonderful story with wonderful characters
This book dealt with difficulties concerning orphans in the 1800's and dealt with it beautifully. In fact, even in this century, it is still applicable. You find yourself rooting for the children as well as the damaged adults. It is uplifting and I have just complelted it for a third time! I loved the first book in this series and have also read the third book. This author is very talented and keeps you wanting to finish "just one more page" before you start supper! Addictive...

The Right Choice
If I could give this book a higher rating I would. It is just an amazing story! Everything that happened just put the story in order. It was put together so well! To know a lot of children really were placed in difficult homes. Just very sad to know you are really just chosen to lighten some one else's work load, not to be loved just abused and used. I am so very thankful I was given a chance to read this wonderful book!

The Right Choice
The Right Choice is a very well written book, that will have you right in the midst of the book with the characters. It has no swear words, and discreet sex that let's you use your imagination. It is a good, clean, wholesome book. It give you some history of the times it takes place. Very informative.
