Bible on human body
The ninth edition coming from the year 2000 is yet another updated and improved version of this brilliant book of endless discoveries of fascinating facts about our complex bodies. I only own and read seventh edition so far from 1993, so I can compare it to that one. The structure of chapters and overall outline of the book is very similar, even if the text and all pictures and diagrams seems to be brand new. So there is 29 chapters throughout over 1050 pages of main text, then the appendixes, glossary, credits, and the index (priceless thing-really).Many new elements, like for example, the term glucose transporter GluT in carbohydrate metabolism, are introduced and nicely incorporated into the storyline of the book. In 7-th edition, there's no mention of GluT, so it doesn't mean that the older version is wrong, it's just less accurate. And exactly this accuracy is improved with every new edition, which comes out roughly every 3-4 years. My favorite chapters 25 on metabolism and 27 on fluid and electrolyte homeostasis, are even better than in 7-th edition, even if there is literally tons of knowledge on every page of this book. I was pleasantly surprised by even stronger integrity and complelingness of the text. It's written with very systematic and explanatory style. Included are questions and answers at the end of each chapter, and at the beginning, there is summary of the structure of that particular chapter. So the book is highly suited for self-teaching, or even for teaching it to others.Another difference is including of CD-ROM with interactive interface for further deepening and recapitulation of already absorbed knowledge from reading. The official website of this book is here for you as well, supporting students or any other individuals interested in human anatomy and physiology. Plus it comes with extra 25 pages big atlas of human skeleton, The latest version is currently the 14-th edition, but as I said each version itself is the material for months and months of study. Enjoy and grow wiser.

Great book, but you can't access the online resources even when buying new
I really like the book and bought it after using the university library copy for a few weeks. Very disappointed to discover that you don't get access to the additional study materials heavily promoted throughout the book when purchasing a brand new copy via amazon. Had I known I would just have looked for a second hand copy for less money elsewhere. Sadly I removed the packaging (the books were sealed in plastic wrapping) to look for a code inside the front cover which is how it comes in other medical books, so I can't even return them.

Very good book for those studying Medical Engineering
I bought a used book, but looks brand new one. I attached a picture with the brief content of this book for those who are interested. This is not an atlas of a human body, but has enough descriptive pictures about the structure and clear information about the function related to its structure.

I got this book as I am currently studying sports therapy. This was the number 1 in recommended texts to purchase for assignments and I can see why. The amount of detail within topics is brilliant. Everything I have needed to know has been explained well and with diagrams. I am very happy that I own this book and I urge anyone who requires to learn about the body to buy this also. You won't regret it. Well worth the money!

The book itself is great, but good luck getting access to the online resources promised in the text. I wouldn't have minded paying to get access but Wiley just said they don't support the book any more so tough luck. In my opinion the publishers mis-sold this book as having online resources. Avoid Wiley products - you pay a lot for a book with online resources attached and the publishers pull the plug on these with complete impunity.

Yes three books came and they were a great read, well I have still yet to finish ...
What a book or should I say BOOKS! Yes three books came and they were a great read, well I have still yet to finish but as you do with these, you dip in and out and I know a lot of work has gone into it. Not cheap but if you can afford it, get it as it is well worth the price as I felt the version prior to this is outdated ( obviously) but it shows in the data and research given. The pictures are better quality and in more depth in many and you can see what they are talking about rather than using a magnifying glass. At times I have had to look a few things up due to the wording but that is my lack of knowledge rather than there fault.

Excellent reference - with help
This is a standard medical text, designed for the medical student - and it shows. I bought it as recommended reading to accompany a series of DVD lecture on anatomy and physiology, which uses many of the illustrations. The text is very dense, and for a non-student takes some getting through at first. Once my lectures had begun to open up the text, however, the book became easier to comprehend, and I was able to cope with sections not covered in the lectures more and more easily. The main reason for this is the excellence of the illustrations - mostly diagrammatic, but including some photographs of dissections; it's really only the vocabulary which tends to get in the way - not a fault of the book - and slows the comprehension (in fact it's useful to buy a standard medical dictionary to have handy), but if you're prepared to work at it, it's worth the effort. I even found I could cope with most of the questions at the end of the chapters - including chapters not covered in my lecture course. The book is a model of its type - not only is it comprehensively informative, but the style and layout are a positive encouragement to learning.

This book is fantastic for anyone studying anatomy and physiology
This book is fantastic for anyone studying anatomy and physiology. It is easy to read and find your way around. One gripe though, some of the pages do not seem to have been glued properly and as a result some of the pages are coming away a little meaning that I have to be extra careful when using this book.

Great book
Fantastic content. One of the best I’ve bought. But, the quality of the binding and paper is poor. Pages are already falling off!
