Highly recommended! I use this as a durable scratch-resistant final coating on the painted rocks I make and sell. While other matte finishes I've tried were still fairly shiny, DuraClear Ultra Matte successfully reduces and almost eliminates shine, and so makes my designs easier to see, even in direct lighting. (This has also made it way easier to photograph my finished products!) The finish is fairly smooth to the touch, though definitely coarser than Duraclear Gloss. I don't find the scent of it to be too strong, and once it's dry it doesn't smell at all! It does seem to dull colors underneath very slightly, but not enough to be a problem, in my opinion. For best results, and to prevent the finish from cracking, be sure to use several very thin coats, and also make sure that the painted surface you're coating is completely dry first. Also clean your brushes right away, this stuff dries extremely quickly!

Very good for craft woodworking but you need to apply several coats and apply it quickly because it dries so fast, after drying it needs to be sanded with 800 grain super fine sandpaper to get that smooth surface,, works very well!

This varnish is really good for paper mache. It washes off brushes etc with water which is so convenient and easy. It is permanent and creates good protection for your crafts, paper etc. This varnish dries quickly and it is a true matte finish. I find a bottle to go a long way. I varnished many paper mache pieces and still have almost a full bottle. Easy to use and a good price point.

I recently joined a group that paints and hides rocks (in plain sight) to be found and hidden again. It's a bright spot in an otherwise tension-filled world. The group advises using this product to seal paint onto rocks before hiding them. I like it for a number of reasons - I can just take the lid off and dip a paint brush in for no waste. It doesn't have a strong odor that's offensive when working on projects indoors. It dries quickly, while still leaving artwork crisp beneath it. It seems to bring out base colors in the rock like polishing would, while still having a matte finish that I prefer. I will definitely reorder this product again when the first bottle runs out.

Barniz utilizado para un sobre de mesa de madera de abeto natural. Se trata de la mesa del comedor, donde come la familia, por lo tanto la mesa estará expuesta a agua, comida, salsas, etc... Este barniz de poliuretano es la mejor solución que conozco para estos casos. El barniz sintético crea una película alrededor de la madera que la protege de cualquier vertido y permite lavarla con agua y jabón. El barniz de poliuretano lo podemos encontrar habitualmente en las barras de madera de los bares pero normalmente suele ser brillante y este es ultramate. Cuando digo ultramate es ultramate, ni pizca de brillo ni satinado. El color es del todo transparente, no se advierte la capa de barníz hasta que no viertes un líquido y ves como es repelido. Una vez colocada la primera capa parece que no hay barníz, pero al pasar la lija fina (es importante lijar entre capa y capa de barniz) no deja ir ni gota de serrín, es decir, el barniz sella desde la primera capa. El fabricante recomineda dos capas, pero yo suelo siempre dar una o dos más de lo recomendado, en este caso con tres creo que es mas que suficiente. El secado es rapidísimo, aproximadamente en 30 minutos seca y en 2 horas está completamente listo para lijar. No huele en absoluto, he barnizado dentro de la casa y ni rastro de olor en el ambiente. En definitiva el mejor barniz para superficies de interior que van a sufrir un desgaste importante. Quiero recordar que este tipo de barniz no es para exteriores pues se deterioran con los rayos UV.

The ultra matte will give you a true matte finish. The Duraclear Matte is too shiny for many of my projects. I sometimes mix the two together to dull the matte down a bit.

Great product, easy to use. Bushes easy to clean afterwards. I use on my painted pots and stones that are also suitable for outside use this is the main reason for choosing this product. Wont use anything else. Great to not have pots of smelly white spirit about to clean bushes off in.
