Two boys' review: Helps you talk about what causes bad dreams
We expanded our collection of Berenstain Bears books this Christmas. Our sons, ages 6 and 4, enjoy these books and find it easy to relate to the young bears in the series. I like to mix these stories into our rotation of bedtime books as the need arises. That's how I came to buy "The Berenstain Bears and the Bad Dream."This past year has been an especially hard on the boys. All of the superhero movies they wanted to see - Iron Man and Incredible Hulk and The Dark Knight - were not appropriate for their age. I mention this because at the heart of this book is brother bear's desire to see "Space Grizzlies," a movie that leads to the titular bad dream. So, this book helped illustrate why I didn't want my sons to see PG- or PG-13-rated movies. This book hasn't stopped my sons from having bad dreams but it has become a useful resource that helps us talk through what causes bad dreams and why the dreams themselves can't hurt us.We also own and recommend: The Berenstain Bears and the Trouble with Chores The Berenstain Bears Help Around the House The Berenstain Bears Forget Their Manners The Berenstain Bears Get in a Fight The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers

Another fine Berenstain Bears book.
Have long trusted Berenstain Bears books to handle each situation with easy to understand and reassuring explanations for the intended age group. This book was ordered for a 5 yr.old .

Hopeful this will help with nightmares
My 4 year old nephew LOVED the stickers. He’s been having trouble sleeping lately because of a nightmare he keeps having. I’m hoping this helps! It’s kind of long for age 4 compared to his usual books, but if we are going to be up late anyways because he is afraid to go to sleep, I would say it’s worth it (and might cut down the time in the long run).

Very Good, not their best, but very good
We own many of the Bear Cub adventures, and always find Mama Bear to be a great Mama. This is a good title, but in my opinion a little too long on the build up to the bad dreams and too short of the "dealing with the bad dreams" and I was also sad to see NO "how not to have bad dreams" discussion. But we still like it, we still read it. My 4 year old "read" it to his stuffed money last night when the monkey didn't feel good and was resting.BB Learn About Stranges is a better one, dealing more completely with the issue of strangers whereas this one doesn't fully address bad dreams as i would like. However, most any BB cub adventure is well recieved in this home.

Cute Little Story!!!
The Berenstain Bears and the Bad Dream is a cute story. I really like how Stan and Jan Berenstain apply real-life situations to their stories. The books are always based on topics that are relevant to children. My four-year-old has an entire Berenstain Bear Collection that we have ordered, book by book, off of Amazon for merely pennies each. Every used book that I've bought on Amazon's Website is in good or great condition. When looking at The Bad Dream, as well as all the other Berenstain Bear titles, one could not tell that they were previously owned. Buying used books from Amazon is the way to go to save a few dollars and still receive quality products. Not only was The Bad Dream delivered in great condition, it arrived at my house just six days after my order was placed.

but after revisiting it as an adult with my children I've come to realize that it doesn't really teach kids a lesson like many of the other BB do
It's a classic, but after revisiting it as an adult with my children I've come to realize that it doesn't really teach kids a lesson like many of the other BB do. What's the message in Bad Dream? At the end of the book, Mama explains that dreams are your brain's way of processing your stressors and experiences from the day, but it mixes them up and sometimes creates bad dreams. The cubs don't make a mistake, and they don't learn from that mistake. It breaks from the usual routine of a children's storybook, but also fails to teach anything worthwhile.

Good book. Amazon customer service BITES.
Good story. Helps kids understand bad dreams. This was my second copy as first one soaked by laundry soap in previous order. New book came. But Amazon customer service very bad. No shipping label included. Or I deleted it. Can’t use this website so not user friendly. But kids really like the book.

Could be better
My son likes this one but its a little long and the explanation to the issue is a little convoluted. I usually just change the story and simplify the reasons for the bad dream. Plus the kids just end up sleeping in the parents bed. I mean, that's what I'm trying to prevent lol.
