The Clovehitch boat shoe from Seabago has a weathered leather upper with mesh panels for breathability, padded linings for comfort, and a traditional slotted collar with eyelets to create a nautical feel. Sebago represents authentic products and timeless design. Their original, hand-sewn Docksides boat shoe and Classic Beefroll penny loafer haven’t changed since they first crafted them decades ago. Sebago is a celebration of everything New England…where life in, on or around the waters is a geographical unavoidability. Their shoes are about performance--not just the technical kind, but the way a shoe behaves in its right environment, whether on boats or city streets. Each classic Sebago design is carefully designed to perform at its best.

Not the same quality from a few years ago....
I've only worn these shoes a half-dozen times and the eyelets are already popping loose. These are a lot smaller than the ones (same model--exact same size) I was replacing but the leather in the new ones is very very stiff and the fit was a lot smaller than the ones from a few years ago. Not at all the same quality. They are already falling apart! The eyelets are coming out--less than 2 months old. This is a pass...

Very Good Boat Shoes
Right out of the box, the shoes were lightweight and good-looking.Put the shoes on and walked around the house, they felt snug like new shoes usually do but quickly settled in an started feeling comfortable. The next day I put them on in the morning and drove 50 miles to an outlet mall and shopped for a couple of hours, walking on hot concrete on the first hot day of the year with no socks on. This is something that you might find kind of hard to do with brand new shoes before breaking them in, but these Sebagos were totally fine.I had a hunch about width so I went with the 'wide', and that turned out to be a good choice. Typically I have not been wearing 'wide' but I think the manufacturers are using different lasts now as some new shoes seem to be a little tighter - or my feet just may be changing.Bottom line, this shoe may be a little tight if you tend to think that you should have gotten 'wide' shoes sometimes rather than 'regular' or 'D' width, especially if you wear socks with them in hot weather, so perhaps then the 'wide' would be suitable for you.I had no chafing, irritation or discomfort in my feet after this outing so as far as I'm concerned, the shoes are 'broken-in' and are my new favorites.

Long lasting quality boat shoe
I basically live in my boat shoes in the summer. For years I bought the more well known brand, starts with an S end's with a Y, and I bought a new pair every year. About 4 years ago I decided to try this brand. I will admit these shoes will hurt your feet, and cause a blister or 2 before they break in . But once they do, they will last and last and last and be the most comfortable pair of shoes you own. Real leather needs to break in and conform to your feet. Which is a bit of an inconvenience. A suggestion I use is the get them soaking wet then wear them until they are dry. It will help the break in process, also buy these before your old pair is in the trash. So you can wear the new ones a bit at a time. My 4 year old pair are still going strong, they just look tired. So I decided to start the process for a new pair. Great shoes if you want to put in the effort.

Excellent summer time shoe for casual or play.
This is my 2nd pair of these exact shoes. They lasted many years but many years of sandy beaches and salt water finally wore out the stitches. I wear these shoes from April to November here in Pennsylvania and wear them in Florida January through March. They go with shorts or khaki or blue jeans. Excellent comfort and they have excellent durability. I highly recommend these shoes. I am a 12 wide and they fit very well and in New Balance I wear a 2 to 4 wide in size 12. The lacing allows you to expand as your feet may swell in the heat like mine often do.

DO NOT BUY THESE SHOES! STITCHING ON THE SOLES FAIL!
Stitching that holds the sole onto the shoe failed within one week of wearing them. I bought them for a two week cruise and they failed after only a couple of days. These shoes were very poorly constructed. DO NOT BUY THESE SHOES. DO NOT BUY THESE SHOES. DO NOT BUY THESE SHOES! DO NOT BUY THESE SHOES!

Last summer (2015) I wanted to try something different, footwear wise. I had saw people wearing Sperry Topsiders and a few family members touted them as comfortable. I initially ordered a pair of Sperrys, but my width was out of stock everywhere. So I decided to try Sebago, and instead of the classic boat shoe look I went with the mesh sided Clovehitch 2 in EEE width. I had never owned a pair of boat shoes before, and have always wore socks, but nevertheless I opted to go sockless with these shoes. After a year of wear they have broken in and are comfortable, but don't make the mistake I did, buy yourself some no show liner socks or you will get blisters. I actually have a scar on my left heel from last summer where the skin was rubbed away after a day of walking around. Don't let that scare you away! Buy some no shows, don't plan on wearing your out of the box boat shoes in situations where you will be walking all day, break them in a few hours here, a few hours there and after a while you will have a pair of comfortable, hard wearing, unique Sebagos, that are definitely not the average pair of Topsiders. A huge plus is the Marine Grip soles, which seems to work equally well on wet grass or concrete and is very stable, if thick. All in all I recommend getting these if you like the style. The mesh doesn't help cool your feet as I had hoped but might work well if you actually get water inside the shoes.

Decent boating shoes
These are pretty good boat shoes. However, they have two attributes that I do not like, hence the four-star review. First of all, the interior of the shoe is a fabric rather than leather or at least fake leather. Leather is best, particularly if you are wearing the shoe barefoot, because it allows your foot to breath. I did not know this when I bought the shoe or I probably would not have bought. Secondly, the front of the shoe is squared off somewhat rather than curved as is the case with most boat shoes. The result is that the styling of the shoe is somewhat boxy and unappealing. On the plus side, if you don't mind boxy look, these are decent looking shoes. They are also pretty comfortable when worn with socks. They fit precisely as expected. For boat shoes, I am a perfect 8.5 D if I want to wear the shoes barefoot and an 8.5 W if I want to wear the shoes with socks. I ordered these as an 8.5 W and as expected, they fit perfectly with socks.I have only been wearing the shoes for about a week, so I cannot comment on the longevity of the shoe. I will update this review if I have any issues of this type. I will say that simply by inspection, the shoes seem very well-made and nice-looking other than the styling issue that I mentioned. RJB.

A wretched decline in standards
I originally bought a pair of Sebago Clovehitch (size 10.5 wide) deck shoes 7 years ago from a retailer in Cork, Ireland. While expensive, they were simply superb, comfortable hard-wearing and waterproof. After seven years of use and abuse they started leaking a little so I naturally went back to the same retailer (a chandlery) to get a new pair but they had ceased selling clothing and footwear so I went online at the Amazon website and bought exactly the same shoes - Sebago Clovehitch 10.5Wide.The pair that arrived in the post were 10.5 normal width but perhaps I accidentally clicked on the wrong selection window and they did stretch to fit after a few days of tightness. I noticed the shoelaces were shorter and of lesser quality on the new shoes as compared with the old. Also after just a few days the "Sebago" logo on the insoles had rubbed off - odd. However just this weekend past - after about six weeks of wearing them- I happened to be caught out in rain and my feet and socks were immediately soaked as water was admitted by the shoes through the stitching, the possibly inferior leather, and also via the "cloth" or woven side panels. I am at something of a loss to explain how a reputable company like Sebago could have permitted such a decline in standards in such a previously excellent shoe - what a pity. I am now beyond the window at which I can return the items -according to the Amazon website.

Not as good as they were.
I’d these years ago and wore them out so I eventually ordered a new pair 91/2 W. The W doesn’t seem to exist any more as others have said so what’s the point advertising it? I’m wearing them as I write this in the hope that they’ll stretch a little before summer, otherwise I’ll be returning them. Sad.

DISAPPOINTING
The leather side where stitched to the sole has split in a way that it cannot be repaired. Having enjoyed Sebago shoes for decades, I am very disappointed and would warn buyers NOT TO BUY this particular model.I have tried to get in touch with the company too return the shoes, but this facility does not appear to be available.

Very comfortable
Yes a bit pricey but well worth the money! Very well made and very comfortable. My last pair last nearly 15 years and am sure this new pair will do the same . Delighted.

Nice shoes, bad laces
A nice pair of shoes that are comfortable but the fit is a bit too big. Sadly the laces are not very good at all as they keep on coming loose which is very very annoying.
