VetriScience Same Liver Health Tablets for Cats and Dogs, 30 Count

I have been giving my small dog one of these in a pill pocket for a little over a month. I then wait one hour before feeding him since this supplement works best on an empty stomach or with a small bite of food just to get the pill in him. After a few weeks he was drinking less water and didn't seem as bloated. He started waging his tail more and seemed more alert. And it just keeps getting better. I do not give him any drugs since those made him worse. I also give him 3 mg of melatonin at night. The SAM-e does take a few weeks to start to work, but then it just keeps on getting better. I have tried so many supplements for him, but this one is the best. If your vet says your dog has an enlarged liver this is what will help. Humans and animals can heal when given the right nutrients. On our vet's recommendation, this medicine is to replace a prescription medicine he has not been able to restock for whatever reason. This medication is vital to her health and the 90 mg SAMe is exactly what the vet was prescribing for my 6 pound chihuahua. The 10 count blister packs makes it easy to dispense in exactly the same way. She will go back for blood tests in a couple of months but finding this med is literally a life saver for her.

My dachshund has had some issues with his liver values over the past year. He is ten years old and we have done some testing, and it's inconclusive as to what is causing it. I started him on milk thistle and then added this Vetri-SAMe in the evenings. So far, his liver values have dropped some and are remaining stable. He was also having some allergy issues that might have been a factor, and we now have that under control. I am hoping that we will start to see a further decline in my dog's ALT, sparing him further testing. I have been using VetriScience products for many years and feel that it is a company whose products can be trusted with my pets. I have never had any issue with them. They used to make a stinky liver supplement in treat form that my dogs absolutely adored. I wish they would bring that back. I add these to my dog's dinner and he normally just eats the pill along with it. Sometimes he'll find the pill and leave it in the bottom of his dish. When that happens, my trick is to put the pill on a dab of cream cheese and let him eat it off my finger. Works every time for him.

If you have a canine with cognitive dysfunction, this is for you. I tried human SamE and it was too strong for Big Ben's body to process and you can't break it, so I took him off it. His dementia, which is secondary to a Kidney infection that is secondary to vet malpractice that caused an amputation, came back resulting in a Sundowner's situation. I put him on the lowest dose and given daily it corrects his mind and keeps the peace between him and the other dogs in the house. Now he's not beating them up. 🙂🙃 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I opted to use this with the milk thistle instead of the alternative and it worked great. Because the tablet was too hard for my dog, I did ended up having to crush it which was still effective.

I cannot rate the product. I assume it's working as it should. It was recommended to me by my veterinarian for my cat who has liver disease. He used to use Denamarin but it seems to be no longer available.
