Truly Victorian, truly awesome!
The style of this skirt is awesome. The directions were not difficult to understand at all. I almost opted not to order this pattern because there were several reviews saying the directions were not clear and were hard to follow. I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. And will be ordering more Truly Victorian patterns. And Patterns of Time had it to me in 3 days. Awesome!

easy to follow directions
The math on the waistband is a bit off, otherwise easy to follow directions. Made a great skirt, exactly what I hoped for.

The directions are bad
I've been sewing for 35 years, trained by a professional seamstress and this pattern has caused more cursing than any other pattern (including the old Vogue patterns, before they stopped using 75 pieces for a garment) has ever caused me.My husband, upon hearing my ladylike language from down the hall, came to my sewing room and suggested I email these people and request more/better directions for this garment.I paid WAY too much for this much trouble. I will be trying to make a muslin of my own in order to save my fabric money. Tearing out stitches can cause damage to some fabrics. I'm very disappointed with this pattern.

Lots of buttons
I bought this pattern to make a skirt to wear at a jamboree celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouts. The girls wore bloomers at camp but I didn't think a respectable woman would wear bloomers. This skirt looks like what they wore and is practical for camping and hiking. As the previous poster commented, the instructions were a bit of a challenge. Also, the pattern calls for 20 buttons. As I do not have a machine that does buttonholes, I went with snaps instead. Lots of hemming. The finished skirt looked great. I also wore it in a parade and got positive comments.

Unique pattern, well-drafted and historically accurate
I bought this pattern for use with a steampunk costume. I would consider myself an average seamstress. The pattern itself looks delightful, is well-packaged, and has lots of information. Unfortunately, I found the directions confusing much of the time until everything was laid out. The bigger problem I had was that the pattern was made out of regular white paper/multipurpose paper, instead of the thin tissue paper that's used by most pattern companies today. I find that using multipurpose paper, especially for large patterns, makes for extremely tricky pinning. This pattern is already a bit complicated, so I was very nervous about the final product with how much difficulty I was having with pinning. The pattern is excellently drafted, and is definitely a unique piece, but you're gonna have a bit of a fight to get it!
