Philips AquaTouch S5420/06 Shaver

Its awesome machine. Great built, good ergonomic holding position with excellent placement of shaving heads. Battery life is as claimed by the company. It lasts for 7-8 shaves or 40 minutes. Gets fully charged in 1 hour.If you are a novice using electric shavers, you need minimum 25 shaves to learn the proper technique. Prepare for rashes in first few shaves. Once you learn how to move the machine on your beard. It is quite easy to shave above chin, it takes 30-40 seconds. Trick is below the chin. Usually, the machine works best when moved against the direction of hair growth (in contrast to the conventional shavers which are moved with the direction of hair growth). Some will require rotatory movements, some will require circular movements, some will require linear movements.Be patient. It is an awesome machine. I never used to shave daily. Shaving was the most boring job for me. NOW I DO SHAVE DAILY. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. ITS SMOOTH AND SWIFT.Advice - Always choose your shaver with trimmer. It helps to trim your 'cut' in front of the ears. Otherwise, it would be very difficult to shave near that area neatly with the round headed shaver.

Those who are new to electric shaving this review is for them. Before making your purchase decision consider these points first,1. How often you shave? If everyday then electric shaver may be a good option for you. If twice a week then there is a problem since this shaver can not handle long hair.2. Hardness of you beard. If it is too thick then it will take more time for a clean shave. My beard is thick and I can use a regular Mach 3 blade for 8 shaves. So it takes more time to get clean shave compared to Mach 3.Now pros and cons,1. Very nice design, well build and ergonomic. Feels solid in hand and the tilting blade along with small flex on the joint portion helps it to follow your face contour.2. Since it is a Aqua touch so it is water resistant and you can use it with water which is really good for a cleaner shave. Just use your favorite foam with it for a clean shave.3. This model having Lithium ion based battery which is lighter compared to NiMH alternative (5050) and it takes less time to recharge and lasts longer.4. Really easy to clean compared to some other Aqua touch. Just press the button in the front of the blade set and it will open and then place it below water for cleaning.5. 2 yr blade life as per Phillips6. 2-year worldwide guaranteeCons:1. It takes some time to getting use to it. Watch some video tutorial to know how to use it properly.2. Depending on your beard, your experience may vary. For me, it takes really long time to clean shave around the neck.3. Rotary shavers are not good for longer growth. You have to be regular depending on your beard growth rate.4. The Trimmer: For me it is not a complete replacement of my old trusty Mach 3. Simply because as advertised by Phillips, the trimmer not giving me a clean trim (sideburns, it lefts some residue) so I have to use my razor as well.5. Foil shaver is better if you are not a regular shaver.Verdict: I have tried to cover my experience with this product. It is both hit and miss for me. However my beard is also problematic because of thickness and varying alignment. So if you have option, then try it first before ordering.

Extremely good quality. Gives a decent shave. One needs to get used to electric shaver to really understand the advantage of this. Obviously this is not a razor blade gliding on your skin, hence the feel you get is different. Slow rotary movement is the key for getting a better shave. When it comes to comparison of 7300 series - you would get slightly better feel on the skin but not drastically different. In either case, the Head may have to be replaced in about 2 years. Hence, you can stick to this 5420 instead of 7300 series which is about INR 2500 lesser in price. If you really want to go onto higher models, then move to Norelco 1150 for INR 12K+ which is super smooth on the skin. Believe me, 5420 doesn't hurt your skin - it is as good as shaving with a Gillette Razor.Frankly, if you are looking for a close shave like a Gillette Razor - it depends on the way one defines. My beard starts showing up in about 10 hours if i shave with a regular razor, and with 5420 it starts showing up in about 9 hours. Does it really hurt?? Guys this is awesome product it will gives you a clean and comfort shave.In box you will get:a charger, shaver with two swappable heads one for shaving with a cap and one for trimming. I love the feature travel lock.Shaving experience :Anyway this is my first time with e shavers but this gives a clean shave like I used to have with Gillette March 3 razors.The trimmer is so good and it is very precise to trim at 0.4 or 0.5 mm.A good advice is go with wet shaving for the first time for comfort and have a good feel.Even though it gives clean shave my skin under neck get little allergic kind of thing may be my skin take time to adapt with this shaver I think.And in the manual it says use alteast trice a week to make your skin adapt to this shavers

Way below expectations. I never thought that a so called premium product from Philips can be of such poor quality. Its rotary blades are unable to remove beard from my face in both wet and dry shave. For under the neck beard shaving it's a complete flop product. I have also got another variant of Philips Aquatouch rotary shaver AT620/14 which is more effective in close shaving than than expensive rotary shaver which is almost 3 times costlier than philips Aquatouch AT620/14. I have to struggle to remove my beard with this expensive rotary shaver. I'm much more satisfied with the performance of less expensive Philips Aquatouch AT620/14 rotary shaver which gives ne more close shave with ease. The only plus point in this expensive rotary shaver is that its battery charging time is one hour and if you keep aside its fast charging feature, it's a waste of money. Think twice before purchasing this so called premium rotary shaver.
