I see the mounting holes are on the inside. How thick does the surface need to be in order to mount this desktop power box?

Mountings holes at side face of the power box and there are 2 adjustable L shape brackets come with power box which can fix the power box to your desktop. The thickness of desktop can be from 0.75" to 2.5".
