LOVE THIS JERKY !!! IT'S TURKEY NOT BEEF .....
This jerky is one of the few that is made without sugar ,wheat *gluten* ( yes they put wheat in our jerky),free range and 100 % preservative and antibiotic free . Turkey is a lean meat and this effects the style profile of the jerky . It by nature is a bit dryer and in turn has more chew to the texture . If you are use to a beefy jerky with a more muscular or robust profile , from a cow , the difference will be striking . At first when I tried Shelton's turkey jerky I was surprised at it's unique texture and flavor ,but I am now hooked by the lean, chewy ,clean and peppery taste . Shelton' is by far one of few truly healthy jerky on the market , sugar free jerky takes out the inflammatory factors in the product that can contribute to a state of health which enables premature aging and disease . This style of jerky is also great for a low-carb diet . I urge you to try this jerky with an open and informed mind , and you may also become addicted to the stuff .

Close your eyes, you're in for a treat
I had no idea what to expect, and it looked like dog chews when I saw it. I closed my eyes and took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. I am on a diet that suggested these, and found they do work. They are chewy if you need that action, and they have a little kick with the pepper. It's convenient in a snack bag and 19g protein, 1g carb per serving. They are not cholesterol free with 50g per serving. I gave it 4 stars because I don't know what to compare it to having never tried jerky. I say try it if you are looking for a low carb snack.

Good Taste....Too Expensive
Good taste, probably somewhere about 4.5 stars....however.....there are so few peppered no-sugar turkey jerkys around, that it gets 5 stars. Too expensive.

Pricey, but worth it!
I first discovered these in a local health food store years ago and fell in love with them. I'm thrilled to be able to buy them in bulk on Amazon. We SO prefer these over the sweetened jerky which is all that can be found in mainstream stores. And we've never found it too tough, chewy, or dry - it's JERKY, for heaven's sake! In addition to flat out loving the product, the one time I had opportunity to call their customer service department with a problem (one bag of our jerky had gone moldy), my problem was handled by the sweetest woman who went above and beyond the call of duty to make it right. Not only did she send us a replacement bag, she threw in samples of their latest products! Love the jerky AND the company who makes it! Thank you Shelton's!

This product is nearly inedible
I paid so dearly for this product and it's so inferior, I'm compelled to write my first review on here in years.Needed to find a jerky product that had no soy or sugar, so I ended up on Amazon searching. If you're like me, you read through reviews on the Internet and feel a little lost. So many people say good things and then a few negative ones sometimes pop up. Did they get a bad batch? Do they just love complaining? Are they from a competitor? So I tend to discount the bad reviews - I did here and bought the product anyway. I am very sorry I did. The jerky is the consistency of leather. I actually have to suck on it like a lollipop for a minute so it will soften enough for me to risk biting into it.The taste? It's barely okay verging on too salty but that's irrelevant because you won't be thinking about the taste, just about preserving your molars. If you'd like to spend exorbitant amounts of money to experience the kind of jerky you would have eaten on the Lewis and Clark expedition, then this product is for you. If, however, you want your teeth intact at the end of the dining experience, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

How jerky ought to be
So many jerky companies now churn out rubbery, overly sweet, yucky, gross jerky. Shelton continues to make the real deal - a little tough, a little leathery, chewy, jerky goodness. You can't beat Shelton's jerky for an authentic experience. I like it real.

Dry but tasty Turkey Jerky
I'm updating my 2 star review to a 3 star review. Looking back, I've decided that they just make a drier style of Turkey Jerky than I prefer. Trader Joe's Turkey Jerky is the kind I like best and I know my more negative review of Shelton's product was based on my expectation from another product. The Shelton's Turkey Jerky is very tasty, I may not buy it again because of my preference for something more moist, but I would hardly turn any away. All 6 packages were consistently good.

Only one pack was delivered after I paid for a 12 pack
I like this product, but the packaging is screwed up. I alerted them, they shipped it again and the same thing happened. Let me know if you ever get back to the twelve packs.
