IONIZER . You need a good ionizer to get rid that odor, (which destroys your sense of smell, hence awareness, by thus you can't breath, & your sinuses get clogged ,etc.} . A HEPA filter will NOT do this. Nicotine odor will travel thru an airtight room. See ;refer: to particle physics on Protons. Unfortunately this device's filter is very Hard to clean. It is worth it,if you can deal with those facts and cost. Your move .

I'm so unhappy. I purchased an Oreck from their site and it lasted years. This air purifier is nowhere near the quality of the original one that I purchased. I inquired to the seller, simply one question as why the unit didn't come with a 3 prong plugin and I've yet, to get a response. It's snapping and crackling again after I cleaned it with the appropriate cleaner after a day. Have I been duped?

First night sincerely what a difference. I LOST MOST OF MY LEFT LUNG BEING A 30 YEAR FIREFIEGHTER AND BREATHING AT NIGHT IS VERY DIFFICULT. USED TO GET HEADACHES AND NOW 7 DAYS INTO THIS I HAVE TO ADMIT THIS UNIT HAS REALLY HELPED ME SLEEP

Sometimes the best compliment you can pay a piece of machinery is that you never notice it's there! This Air Purifier is so quiet (I've had it over a month!) I sometimes have to look at the fans with a light on the other side- the blur of the fan blades assures me that it's actually running -I can't hear it! I'm most satisfied with my new Oreck!

I purchased this unit t replace my old unit. I am a smoker and people entering my house say they can't smell the smoke.

An hour after I plugged it in, I noticed I was breathing more easily, and no more allergy coughing...The bad news:First, the fan is very loud, but not just loud - it has the kind of sound a normal fan makes when something is out of alignment. On high, I could hear the "immnn-immnn-immnn" all over the house. I did call Oreck, and spoke to a lovely rep, who told me it sounded as if it were working fine. But then, in about a week, I started noticing a smell, and so emptied and re-emptied all my trash, cleaned everything that I could think of and find - even window sills - there is still an odor in the room. I turned on the button to eliminate odors...and started a terrible case of post nasal drip, and now I'm coughing again. Might be the unit, might not - but I'm returning it.

Remote doesn't work. =/ Very pricey to be defective.Also very loud.

So happy with the Dual Max. I'm in Australia and using a power converter to run this. It almost completely removes pet odour (I have indoor rabbits). First 2 settings are hardly audible. Top setting is not over bearing tho. It collects heaps of pet hair too on the intake, easily cleaned. I haven't had to clean the Truman cell yet. The unit was bigger than I expected.

Works great. We've had forest fire smoke all summer and haven't been able to open any windows. Even with the A/C on, the house smelled like a cross between a campfire and a dirty ashtray and everyone had sore throats and smokers cough, it was so bad! Everything stunk. Plugged in the Oreck Dual Max right out of the box and within hours the house smelled fresh, like right after a rain shower! It really puts through the volume at high setting, although it is understandably noisy at that setting. On low or medium, it is whisper quiet, but we were trying to clear the air in unusual circumstances, and the Oreck met the challenge. So impressed, that we bought two more for other rooms so the one doesn't have to work so hard. Also noticed a lot less dust on the furniture, and it's so easy to clean.

Im not sure if it's working or not.I can't tell.Update 9 months: make sure you check under the buttons on top of the purifier. I just noticed it the other day, it's missing the power button (rubber piece) under the sticker. I can't turn it on without the remote. lol

The dual max is awesome.Had the previous smaller models but didn't have the air flow that it does.And quiet on medium can hardly hear it.On high it is a little noisy but powerful I can't imagine using it on high unless it was off in the corner in a very large room.

Amazing. No smoke from cooking. And I don't need to constantly buy filters. I'm very very very happy with Oreck
