Sample of Gracilaria sp. Red / Brown Bush Algae (Roughly 2 inch across) Care level: Beginner Lighting Requirements: Low to high Growth: Slow / Medium Nutrient uptake: Low / Medium Attachment: Slow, use adhesive This red / brown Bush marine macro algae is a very unusual and rare type of marine macro algae, it is similar to Gracilaria Hayi, but browner in colouration with a denser bushy structure. This macro algae has a slow to medium speed growth and it can be placed almost anywhere in the aquarium. It has a stiff but flexible "leaves" and grows into a bush but is slow to attach to rock work. Under bright lighting it will take on a pleasant reddish colouration. Low lighting will turn it an attractive brown shade. Grown in a fish less system (not one pictured) so no need to worry about parasites etc. Some good hitchikers such as copepods, amphipods, brittle starfish etc can come with the algae as they are a natural part of the marine ecosystem and cannot be avoided. If you do not want hitchhikers into your main aquarium, quarantine of the algae is recommended.
