Q: If I used this on a potential dog thief, how would the noise affect my dog?

You can desensitise your dog to the sound BEFORE an emergency. Press it and drop a few treats. Repeat. The sound indicates a treat is coming for your dog and not something scary. Tony, dog trainer.

Q: It seems to have two buttons. One for the light - what is the other for?

There is ONLY one button on this alarm, for the torch. The other is where the alarm sound comes from.

Q: How do you switch it off? How long does it sound off for?

You pull the chain and the pin comes out, so you have to put the pin back in to stop the alarm. As far as I know the alarm sounds until the pin is put back. Bit like a hand grenade! It is very loud. I have accidentally set it off in shops on a couple occasions, causing quite a stir. Good to have just in case.
