Venom by Donny Cates Vol. 2: The Abyss

The Abyss is first and foremost a story about Eddie's relationship with his symbiote. We see Eddie dealing with the aftermath of the first arc, and how it affects his view on things. What we also get in The Abyss is an excellent look at Eddie's backstory. What made him who he is. It's an excellent character study. There are multiple twists that left me very surprised and satisfied too. Some big revelations about Eddie, Venom, and how they link together. The artwork is fantastic once again, and the way that panels are out together to add to the story is excellent. The panels aren't just where the pictures go, they contribute to the delivery of the story in really cool ways. Overall, this is a very different comic to the first volume, but equally enjoyable, if not more so.

Wow... Just wow... That was amazing. I rated the first book of these collections 4 out of 5 stars, this is absolutely a 5 out of 5 story. While the first books opening was what prevented it getting the 5, this one just delivers beautifully. However, I have to preface this by saying that this is nothing like that he first book. The first was just action, mythology and epic battles. This is much more subdued, while Venom is hardly in the story. Now while this might sound like a negative it absolutely isn't. We get a true dissection of who Eddie Brock is as a person, a deep psychological telling of how we can ruin ourselves by tormenting ourselves with the past, and how the mind copes with trauma, and how deeply we can lie to ourselves in order to do that. I don't want to spoil it, so I'll end this by saying that there are twists and turns you won't see coming. I absolutely love this series. It'd well worth your money.

Good comic book. Grandson enjoys reading it a lot. Can dip in and out. Highly recommend. He is following the series.

The comic it’s self is really good and a lot thicker then I thought the only down side I didn’t like was the fact that is wasnt wrapped up, as I want to not get them damaged etc so wasn’t a fan of that.

I enjoyed the previous novel of venom with the bringing in of Knull the venom god and the backstory of the god butcher. This however felt very much just pointlessly put together just to connect venom to the next series. I give it 2 stars because the art was enjoyable but that's the only redemption of this comic

It gives you a new view to the character and tells you about what happend to turn him into the lethal protector. It is really good and I recommend it for readers who enjoy venom and are older then 10 it has somethings that are a little scary for younger readers but not too bad. It is one of the best venom comic I've read I recommend.

El cómic excelente, formato softcover en perfecto estado

Eddie Brock braucht einen Neuanfang, aber es gibt einige Probleme. Donny Cates liefert hier ein Meisterwerk, das im Gegensatz zu seinen ersten 6 Heften eher auf den Character und seine Entwicklung baut. Stellt Euch auf Schocks und traurige Momente ein.

Story is dark with plot twists and gives more character development to eddie. Although this volume has less 'venom' action but its a good read nevertheless

Nunca pensé que un cómic de venom me llegase a gustar. Pero Donny Cates lo ha logrado. La historia es buena y el arte también. En este volumen se muestra el pasado de Eddie Brock y lo que está por venir.
