Like it -- works well -- a tad too costly
Works fine for my needs. The latch is not the most well-made item in the world but for what it was designed to do, works great! I mounted mine on a frame tube between the rear foot-pegs and seat of a Susuzki Vstrom 1000. Be sure to hold your helmet strap-rings up by where you are planning to mount the unit to ensure the helmet can be attached and detached with ease (while also not touching the ground, hot exhaust,.. basically in an ideal spot the way you see it. If you are concerned about the reliability of this unit, I have only been using it just over 1.5 weeks (but believe me, it gets used a lot!). For it to lock securely, I found it easiest to hold the pressure off the latch while you hold it in and turn the key to the 'locked' position, then release helmet and let it hang suspended. Otherwise, its a pain in the rear but given the fact of 'gravity', just makes sense. The only actual thing I do not like about this lock (after procuring, installing and now having used) is the PRICE. I feel this device is probably worth about half what I paid, then again - it was the least expensive option (but still). At the end of the day, I would buy it again.

Nice little lock, good price.
When I was looking for a lock to fasten to my bike frame, I wanted two things: 1) A black lock that wouldn't stand out against my black frame, and 2) something that fastened easily from the front, and didn't require tools on the backside. This lock was the ONLY one I found, and the price was decent. I'd read other reviews, and I echo the reviewer who wished it'd been spring loaded, but it's really not too difficult to operate without. An industrious person could probably find a way to mount a small spring to it that would aid in closing it with helmet in-tow. I did mount it with the tamper-resistant screws that it came with, but in hindsight wished I'd just used a standard screw with some locktite. Other users may want to consider this approach on their rides. For the price, I feel that this lock is a good value. Installation was easy, and fitment was correct.

it appears durable overall it's a good product. Hardley Davidson confirmed that they do not manufacture the black version of the helmet lock they get an after market part. I would recommend it it looks good and fits the engine gaurd no problem. It's a good thing to have in case u can't take your helmet with u.

Does what it is supposed to
It locks well and easily with the keys, the black paint does scrape off with the helmet buckle but no big deal for me. The screws are a one way so they will not be able to be taken out once tightened down, keep this in mind when decided placement to install.

Cheap quality, sharp edges, poor lock, poor finish.
Junk. Will cleanly only fit bars 1" in diameter by my best guess. 1 1/4" is too big and will not fit without longer bolts and scratching off the finish of the bars. Lots of sharp edges from poor casting. Arrived with black paint chipping off in spots.Lock mechanism is terrible. You would be better off using a hose clamp to permanently mount a padlock to your frame.

Fair and functional but not "Great"
The design and installation are straightforward enough. BUT, the designers could have easily spring loaded the latch so that a rider could lock it without a key, using one hand for the lock and the other for the helmet. This clumsy design forces you to use three hands and to "key" it open and closed needlessly. I would gladly have paid more for a better mousetrap but none seem to be available. So this one has to do the job for now.

Great lock for the price
I mounted this lock on the crash bar of my Softail Slim. It allows me to secure my helmet without worrying about it being easily stolen.

Not keyed well
This product has two issues. First and foremost, it isn't keyed well. Mine takes several tries before the key will turn. When I say several I mean I have spent a few minutes each time trying to get the key to unlock. Secondly, you will need to place some tape on your bars before installing the lock because it will definitely scratch things up. However, the scratching is to be expected. The biggest issue is getting the thing to unlock.
