Very low quality workmanship
I wish I could give this NO stars at all. This unit failed after just one month of service. Shipping back to the reseller was not an option because of the lack of feedback from the reseller in the first place.Investigating this unit myself, I found that the wireless card was NOT PLUGGED IN PROPERLY! I know it didn't shake loose, because it was actually secured with double sided tape! That means it LEFT THE FACTORY IMPROPERLY ASSEMBLED!After reseating the card, it seems to be working so far. Only time will tell. I am not buying anything else Linksys. If it fails again, it will be replaced with an Apple Airport Extreme Base station.***Update***After two more weeks of poor performance from this unit, it was replaced by a USED Apple Airport Extreme base station. The Apple unit has been rock-solid, requiring no further interaction - it just works.I recommend NOT BUYING THIS UNIT AT ALL. Get the Apple AIrport Extreme instead.

Great signal, poor backwards compatability with b/g adapters
I ordered this from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. First kudos to Amazon for having the best price and getting it to me pronto. After installation, the signal was great. I was upgrading from an older Linksys BEFW11S4 102.11b router/ap. I have 2 notebooks with Cisco 102.11b adapters, and 2 desktops with 102.11g adapters. In the future I was hoping to upgrade the adapters, but didn't want to do it now. My main goal was to improve the signal strength, not the bandwidth. The signal strength was dramatically improved. However, the speed was degraded to dial-up performance. I have a cable modem, and was able to feel the degradation in performance. The degradation was worse with the 102.11b adapters, about 4X slower. The degradation was about 2X with the 102.11g adapters.I worked with Linksys support, but they could not help and recommended returning the unit. I did, but replaced it with a Belkin Wireless-N MIMO router per online reviews. I just finished the installation in 10 minutes, and everything works great. It might be that Linksys hasn't got the firmware correct yet. But I am not willing to wait or fuss with it.

Great router for a decent price
It cost me $40, and it replaced a Dlink DI-524 router that seemed to not hold connections very well, especially when I was connected via VPN. I like that the WRT54GX2 is easily converted from a horizontal to a vertical position, where as my Dlink required rubber feet that didn't seem to stay put if the router was jostled in any fashion. The router was easy to set up (I have never used the installation CD on any router, so I can't attest to that). It did have a slightly hard time connecting to my cable modem, but I blame that on Comcast/the cable modem because the Dlink had the same issue. After I cloned the MAC address, I would have to shut both down, bring the cable modem up, wait about 5 minutes, and then bring the router up. My range is much better in my house than the Dlink, although I still have a strange dead spot in my normal seat on the couch by my living room. The Linksys has alleviated that spot slightly, but I guess there is something else causing an issue if two routers couldn't fix it. My only complaints about the router thus far is the interface to forward ports is a little misleading to me and the antennas (at least on the version I have) are not replaceable. I have upgraded the firmware once with no problems, but I didn't have any issues before the upgrade so I can't tell you if it improved anything. So all in all, I feel like I got my money's worth.

The SRX200 is a great, reliable router!
I setup and install wireless networks for a living, and this router has certainly been bad for my business :-) I have installed around 20 of them for small (mostly home) networks, and after they get installed, none of my customers has to call me about router problems. (This is the "bad for business" part.)Just make sure that you go and download the latest firmware for the router off of the Linksys.com web site. You might even want to save the firmware on your PC before installing the router so you can do the firmware update immediately.Of course, since I do this for a living, I don't use the install wizard(s) so I don't know how easy or hard the router is to configure properly if you are a newbie in this area. Finally, the main reason I recommend this router to my customers is definitely not speed. You would essentially need to purchase all new wireless adapters to get the speed boost advertised. However, speed is not the major concern of most of my customers - but distance from router is a big concern. Many of my customers have big homes or "roomy" businesses where a typical G54 router cannot cover the entire home/business. This router increases the distance one can be from the router by 1.5 to 2 times when compared with a typical G54 router. With the current price of less than $60, this router is a great buy!

Shudda listened to the reviewers
Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router(WRT54GX2) - read the reviews referencing poor product quality but liked the form fit & function of this router, especially the wall mount option. Frankly, it fit better in the work space and looked better than the typical Linksys WRT54G product.Mistake - I spent about 5 hours setting up, troubleshooting with the online tools, holding and talking with Linksys tech support. The tech support folks were very courteous and seemed to know their stuff and ultimately concluded this router was a dud and I should return it (and have).Rather than risk further frustration or cross the review gods again, I went out the next day and purchased a Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster and was up and running in an under an hour with 3 computers on the network. It may not look as nice and takes up more space but it sure does work . . .
