What Do Authors Do?

So many times children are curious about what authors do and how they go about doing it. This was such an important book and so enjoyable to read. As a retired teacher, I am now recommending it to all teachers. And it also helps them inspire the next generation of authors. The Illustrator also did a great job, bringing humor into the story through his amazing pictures!!! Great job!!!

Got it for a sister's kiddos & it was perfect for her homeschooling writing project

I bought this book when I was teaching writing in an elementary classroom and used it as an intro. The students in my classes were always interested in comic book style format. You can use this book when addressing many teaching points in the writers workshop format.

This is a great book to teach writing. I read this to my class at the beginning of our last writing unit to show them what authors really do when they're actually writing a story. The captions and pictures that went with each page really helped my students get a grasp of the writing process and what goes into a well-written story.

It's a cute book, very good for teaching the writing process to older students. The comic book format tends to be fun for them!

Nicely written in an easy to understand way. I enjoy the graphic novel format. I can't wait to use it in my first grade class this year, as we go deeper into being authors.

I am excited to share this with my first graders as we are working on becoming authors.

Eileen Christelow masterfully demonstrates the process of writing and illustrating in a manner fitting for young students. Children who adore her books and illustrations will enjoy this behind the scenes view of an author/illustrator's work.
