NutivaOrganic, Unrefined, Virgin Coconut Oil, 54-ounce

I first bought Coconut oil at the health food store and spent ten bucks for a 16 ounce container. Once I realized the flexibility and benefits of coconut oil, I wanted a better price. This is it. Though this price varies (I've spent in the range 35-45 dollars for 128 ounces on Amazon which amounts to a significant drop in cost to what I paid locally.)the price is right.I've had one container that had hard, tiny beads of coconut oil, but it still did what it was supposed to do, though they were a little more resistant to melting. Otherwise, in the three batches we've purchased, this is the only minor complaint.I use it to replace shortening, or to fry, and it's perfect for baking. The coconut flavor is there, but it's subtle. If you hate the flavor of coconut you might want to think twice. I thought I did, but the more I started thinking along the lines of embracing coconut I realized the texture of shredded coconut was what I had issues with. Coconut oil makes delicious stove popped popcorn that doesn't need butter for more flavor ...it ends up with kind of a sweet/buttery taste. Cookies, brownies, etc are delicious with coconut oil replacing butter or margarine.This product is also my only moisturizer and lotion of choice. We scoop some out of the main container (into a recycled hummus jar, short, with a wide mouth) and store it in the bathroom. This past winter, before I started using coconut oil as a moisturizer/lotion, my skin was painfully dry. I drink lots of water, and I was using different products, but my skin was not happy. Seriously, Coconut oil is the best. It soaks in quickly, though not immediately, and it really took care of the itchy dry. I was a little more concerned about my face. But my skin was so dry I felt like smiling would crack my face, so I dove in and tried it. Perfect. Again, it doesn't soak in immediately. I put it on, get dressed, do my hair, then apply my makeup. My foundation brush has sucked up some of the oil so I'll need to replace those maybe sooner than I would otherwise. But for a facial moisturizer that works as well as anything I've ever tried and costs about $.35 an ounce...I think I can live with that. I also haven't had any clogging of pores and I'm an aging T-Zone skin.

Coconut oil is so beneficial and purchasing it through Amazon is certainly cost effective! I now have my husband, sister & several friends all using it.This oil has totally replaced all the oils in my household. The taste is amazing and it's being used in all my cooking & baking with great results. At first I thought the coconut taste would overpower my food but that has never happened & I've used it in bread, pastry, cookies, scones, soups, chili, EVERYTHING I cook, bake, simmer or saute. By the way, mushrooms sauteed in coconut oil are delicious & I never used to eat mushrooms. Now they are a favorite of mine. I also make a coconut oil/butter spread to use as a substitute for butter on toast, pancakes, etc.I also find uses for it out of the kitchen as well as it is a wonderful whole body & hair moisturizer. Also great at makeup removal. It has replaced all my skin & hair care products and I like knowing there are no artificial ingredients, perfumes, or dyes being absorbed into my skin. Just a tiny bit in my hand goes a long way & that delicate coconut scent is just right - not the least bit overpowering at all!Coconut oil has great benefit for the skin also for cuts & scrapes as it is antibacterial as well as antiviral. We use it on any skin injuries we have & it appears to speed the healing without scarring.I typically go through a full 54 oz container each month for my family of two now that my husband has joined in so I will start taking advantage of Amazon's subscribe & save in my next order.

We like to cook with this and use it with sponges and pancakes instead of vegetable oils.

I love this organic Coconut Oil. It's the only oil I use now for cooking and baking. Once you get used to its properties (it's not liquid at room temperature like Canola oil or vegetable oil ... more like "Crisco", but not unhealthy). It's great for the frypan, and allows for a higher temperature than other oils, before it burns or smokes. While it's got a pleasant smell like (coconuts), the taste is fairly bland. If you're looking for something to taste like coconuts, this doesn't have much, if any, flavor. (This is consistent throughout all the brands of quality Coconut Oil. It smells more like coconut than it tastes.)For a product I trust and know how it's manufactured (without chemical processing), you can't beat the quality or the price. I'm going through a 54 ounce container about every other month, and I don't cook that much. I'll use it melted on bagels, and in the frypan when cooking eggs or stir-frying. Here's a hint, if you need it liquid for measuring or spreading: Scoop out as much as you think you'll need, and put it in a glass dish and microwave it just until it melts enough for you to use as you'd like it. You don't want to over-heat it, as it changes the healthy properties when exposed to high heat. And when using microwaves on anything high in calorie density (fats and high sugar content) it heats up faster than foods without fat or high in calories. So go E A S Y on the microwaves . . . just enough for it to soften up and use in the form you're looking for.Have a look on YouTube, and you'll find tons of videos about the healthy properties of coconut oil. The more you learn, the more you'll make the switch from vegetable oils to coconut oil. This is a great product at a great price. And don't be afraid that it's going to alter the taste of what you're cooking with it. (It just doesn't happen that way. As I mentioned: it has a pleasant coconut smell, but it's not going to taste like an almond joy!)

Love, love, love! I've been buying Nutiva Organic Virgin Coconut oil for years now. Its a much healthier alternative to any other oil. We use it to cook with as it has a higher heat resistance so doesn't oxidise like olive oil or other cooking oils do. It makes a great alternative to butter or margarine, the taste is really subtle and doesn't interfere with other flavours. We also take a spoonful a day as a supplement as it contains the good saturated fats - which are harmless and which give you more energy. My partner also moisturises with it and I'm going to try using it as deep conditioning treatment for my hair as I read it works really well. I'll update on that once I've tried it.There are so many benefits for using coconut oil its worth doing a little bit of your own research to read them all. I highly recommend using the Nutiva brand because its cold pressed, organic and virgin.This tub of coconut oil will last us about 4 months and we use it a lot, every day. Enjoy!

I use this for cooking breakfast eggs asI am on a weight loss plan (vanity). I am a healthy athletic muscular male but despite a flat stomach a defined six pack has always eluded me. Since cooking with this for 2 months as part of my diet I have seen steady fat loss and an increase in vascularity and energy levels. I keep getting compliments in the gym and admiring looks while out in short sleeves/tank vests.I also keep a separate tub for use on my hands and feet at night. My wife and mother use it as a moisturising oil in their thick lustrous hair as part of their beauty regime and my children use it on their skin.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This product is so smooth and has a great smell. It also has a pleasant subtle taste. It is so versatile that I use it for cooking, body moisturisation and in my hair. It leaves no residue. Great value for money. I will order it again.
