Essick Air Humidifier
Like many of the other comments, the cover to this Essick Air Humidifier is very flimsy plastic. You must be careful when removing to access the filters because it feels like it will break or crack at the slightest pressure. The fan motor on my unit seems to be rather quiet, unlike some others' experience. I set it up on a Friday and took a whole week for it to accomplish a level of 45% humidity in my 3250 square foot house. I positioned it in my living room, which is in the middle of my house. It seems to run without issue. I read one customer had a bad experience with his/her motor that it would shut off and they would have to unplug to get a reset. To date, I have not had this problem and it has been operating for over a month. The fill spout seems a little awkward because if you pour the water in too fast, it will splash out through the side vents, so pour slowly. Another feature I would like to see is, even though there is a LED light shining on the indicator of the water level, the white colored float is hard to see against the white label with the "height" mark. It need to be orange or another bright color for easier viewing, in my opinion.Overall, I am very satisfied with this unit and recommend it for any one to use in thier home. I am pleased even though I mentioned some things I think are flaws needing to be improved.

Great product!! Poor Delivery!! Not Essicks Fault!!
Great Humidifier....once I got one that was not a returned product. It 3 tries for Amazon to provide me with the actual new product that I originally ordered. The first one showed up with a damaged interior box and all broken top tabs on the machine. It had clearly been previously opened and had scuff marks on the plastic outside.I submitted a return, and quickly received another one. This one also had interior box damage and only half of the top tabs broken. It had also been clearly previously opened and had black scuff marks on the plastic outside.I submitted another return, and finally received a clearly new one. Interior box was not damaged and the unit was in completely new condition.I contacted Essick to complain about their quality control and they informed me that the company I purchased it from was the responsible party. In this case it was Amazon.com LLC.It makes sense to me now, apparently Amazon is recycling returned products and Essick is out of the loop on it, but gets blamed when broken ones show up.Shame on Amazon for needing 3 tries to get me the NEW product I originally ordered. My wife, in the mean time was saying, don't worry about the broken parts it will still work....which is exactly what Amazon is counting on.5 stars for Essick and the product, 1 star for Amazon recycling broken returned merchandise as "NEW". I am going to be inspecting things from them much closer now to ensure I get a new product when I order it.

Revised review for leak at caster to base.
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: THE DAY AFTER MY REVIEW THE UNIT STARTED LEAKING. I had waited a couple weeks in order to test it out before reviewing. What we think happened was, when you insert the roller feet into the base of the unit, I think the fitting around in the base which is an injected mold assembly with a glued injected mold piece at the top of the casters on the base, has too much presser from the casters being inserted. Some feet were much harder than others to insert. That said, we even dried out the unit and put the shower sealer stuff all around the caster. We could not see the leak per se' but it was coming from directly under one roller. And it was wet around that one roller connection. So here's my suggestion. If you want to buy the unit, don't attach the rollers.Below is the old review because other than the leak, I would have still been pleased with it. If you buy it and don't attach the feet and still have a leak, please comment on the thread so others will know the result. That said, I contacted Amazon and it appears my resolution will be easily handled for a refund.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I like it. Things to note. All evaporative humidifiers have slots in the side so if you slosh water against the open slots, yes they will spill water-all of them. I use a gallon pitcher and put in 3.5 gallons per day. If I think I might splash a little water, I can just wipe it up. It's a gentle steady pour and your fine. I set mine at 50% humidity and use it for most of the 3000 sq ft house. I also have a tiny machine far away in my bedroom.I've had the Ultrasonic ones that have the tanks and I usually spill a little water flipping them. Plus they are heavy and the larger tank style sometimes are too heavy for a middle aged woman to bother with. I'm not old, but still think about having to hold a tank in the bathtub up to the spout! And flipping it without and dribbles! It's not going to happen.Noise level. Yes, it makes a fan sound. It's a white noise. Unless you're watching TV in the room with it, it probably isn't bothersome. I turn the TV up a little. It's easy to set up. Logical so no video. Turn it on, set the desired humidity level and fill with water.Mine came with 3 filters which are the required # to operate. I think they are pricey but honestly the Ultrasonic ones without filters look so bad after one year I always have to replace mine. If I get more than one year I'll think my air was clean and moisture appropriate with this unit.I can tell a difference in using it. No blood in noses. Lips not super dry. (Drink water people!).Unit on rollers so the first fill I tried straight from the kitchen sink with the sprayer. It worked okay but because I was concerned about sloshing water out as I rolled it over floor dividers, I finished with a pitcher.Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. My hubbs says it is more "eye-pleasing" than others we've had like Pure Guardian. It's an Ultrasonic.I use almost a half cupful of bacteriastat with each filling. I bought the one suggested.I think I put 4 gal in the first full up.Machine stops when empty.I've had mine about a month of constant usage.P.s. cools air. That's a plus in the summer. Does not have a warm setting.
