Excellent Quality close up filter without Spending a Lot.
This is a high-quality, reliable close-up filter. It pairs perfectly with my Sony RX10IV, allowing me to photograph flowers. I highly recommend it to photographers who want to step into macro photography without spending a lot of money.

Great for action cams
This is kind of info about a specific situation, but I recently purchased a osmo action 6 and I was underwhelmed with the selection of custom made lenses for the thing. I ended up finding an adapter that snaps onto the standard lens cover that will allow you to run 49mm filters which opens me up to a world of strange filters, and sometimes better quality ones. The biggest problem I had with the action camera is the inability to focus up close if I wanted to use it like a webcam or to take selfies with. In order to be in focus you have to be at arms distance, and with the wide-angle lens on the thing, it doesn't really fill the image very well. I purchased a set of the polar pro 2, 4 and 8 diopter lenses, and this one here in plus three and plus five. I need to play with it more, and the polar pro lenses are better glass I can tell, but these look fine, and the plus five is the sweet spot for webcam or blogging at less than arms distance and still have a copious amount of background bokeh. There's going to be a certain amount of distortion around the edges, but to me this is the best solution I have found so far for this problem. Plus honestly with this lens on and a lens cap and a cage it looks badass. If you are going to use it on an action 6, If you want to use a circular polarizer with it, you really need to have a circular polarizer custom fit screw in replace the normal lens cover circular polarizer. If you try to stack another 49 mm polarizer on top of this you get the worst tunnel vision. It's kind of a trippy effect but it's not very good.

+3 Not Quite Close Enough
In the spring I like to do macro wildflower photography. I have a Nikon 105mm macro lens. But it can't get as close as I'd like to get without cropping. I tried the Marumi +3 close up filter. It did get minimally closer but still not what I wanted so I returned it. I ordered the +5 version and that does better so I'm keeping it. The quality appears to be very good. I have not tried the +3 filter on any other lens.

very nice lens
this is a solid filter, and it works well but make sure you really want this strong of a macro setup as it is a +5 which will cut your focal distance from 3ft to inches... Great if you want to focus on a but.......

Not bad at all.
Cheaper than a dedicated macro lens and easy to fit on to my 55-200. at 200mm i'm getting 1:1 i believe. either way the focal plane is razor thin and i'm having fun with it. in studio with perfect set up the picture quality is excellent. try taking a picture of flower with a slight breeze and no tripod. It ain't that fun. 1 out of 40 pics may be in focus. Very useful. Easy to use. Great picture quality. Requires skill to use in the field.

Solid Construction
After using this lens a bit I thought I'd change my review. First of all the quality is surprisingly good. You can buy them in the size to fit your lens or buy a bigger size and use them with a step-up ring so they will work with several different lenses. The only disadvantage of buying a bigger size is that they are a bit heavy and the bigger the size the heavier they are. In my opinion they work best with a zoom as a zoom enables you to change the magnification as you zoom in and out. The +5 works best with a zoom in the 50-200mm range and the +3 works better in the 200 - 300mm range. The +5 is too strong as you get near 300mm and the +3 is too weak as you approach 100mm or less. If you get one too strong you can't focus because the magnification is too high and if it is too weak you may as well crop a photo a little rather than buy this lens. Once the lens is attached then the focusing range is reduced so you would have to remove it to focus outside it's range. With a true macro lens you can focus close or as far away as you please. Other than these limitations they are capable of taking very nice closeups. They are easier to use than adding extension tubes. Unlike extension tubes adding one of these lenses doesn't change the aperture but you often have to stop down a bit anyway to get all of your subject in focus. Since good macro lenses such as the Tamron 90mm macro F2.8 runs between $400 and $500 it is worth trying one of these lenses. Don't buy the cheap single element ones as the quality is terrible. These are dual element achromats.

A Macro Must-have
As an avid photographer, I've always been on the lookout for tools that elevate my craft. The Marumi Closeup Lens has exceeded all expectations and has become an integral part of my photography gear. When paired with my Nikon 105 MC, the results are nothing short of spectacular. I'm capturing shots that surpass anything I've achieved before. The clarity, sharpness, and level of detail are simply unmatched. The 5 diopters of the Marumi lens bring out the intricate beauty of subjects, making every photo a masterpiece. What's truly impressive is the comparison with the Raynox 250. Despite the Marumi having a lower diopter count, the images produced are strikingly similar. This lens proves that quality often trumps quantity, and the Marumi's 5 diopters deliver exceptional results. As I eagerly await the summer of cicadas, I can't help but feel excited about the incredible shots I'll be able to capture. The Marumi Closeup Lens has elevated my macro photography game, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow enthusiasts. It's a game-changer that deserves a spot in every photographer's toolkit.

Excellent optics, nice packaging
It's a nice bonus that the lens comes with a little velvet-lined leather case that fits it snugly so bringing jt along on shoots is a cinch. The lens itself is as good as many reviews around the Internet have claimed, and because the glass is as wide as the opening of the lens you're supplementing (unlike some cheaper alternatives) there's no danger of vignetting. The only note of warning I would sound to potential buyers is to consider the degree of magnification you'll need for the kind of subjects you'll be wanting to photograph. If you're looking to take photographs where you can see the eyes of a fly, you should consider the +5 200 instead, which has greater magnification. I used the +3 330 on a 300mm (35mm equiv) lens and the magnification is not enough for insect-sized objects. But it's perfect for extreme close-ups of flowers, for instance.

Great accessory for an underused tele-zoom - fun and great results
First off, check out the flickr Marumi DHG Achromat group to see what you get. Interested? Read on… I got the +3 (330) and +5 (200). I kept the +3 dioptre: I get no fringing, good sharpness, contrast and colour; and the results are surprisingly good. Very reluctantly, I returned my +5 due to some fringing going on in the corners. Maybe I got a sample with its two elements slightly misaligned. They are otherwise well made and robust (I dropped my +3 onto a stony trail with only minor cosmetic damage). The 62mm +3/+5 weigh approx 90g and come with no end caps so I got cheap filter-stack end caps on Amazon. Tele-zooms are ideal in the field with dioptres (lots of reasons on the web) and I get 0.18 to 0.73x with my 55-200mm +3, 24-33cm closest and furthest working distances. The gain in magnification and new working distance you get will depend heavily on your lens (and chosen dioptre). I found the Wikipedia “close-up filter” equations work. If you are undecided whether to get the +3 or +5, when thinking about how much magnification you want, consider the ratio of your subjects to your sensor size. The quality is good so I can zoom out a bit to preserve depth of field and crop later, or just crop to recompose. I can shoot handheld in the field with my 55-200 and +3 with everything manual (bar ISO) and then firing bursts of high-speed continuous shots at the point of focus to help get keepers. Its takes a bit of practice and takes you back to basics which puts some fun in the process. A tripod and accessories obviously help if you are have the time and are in control of your subject. I give the +3 the full five stars. Due only to the mild fringing I saw with the +5 I’ll give that three or four stars. I may try again with the +5. Extension tubes on wide/normal lenses are a lot less convenient and the working distances are not as good. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Walks in the country take on a whole new perspective. Make sure you get an Achromat - Marumi also do single lens dioptres that have almost the same name) PS - I can add comments on calculating magnification if people are interested.

It is not a regular macro filter
I was really impressed by this lens at my first try. It doesn’t compromise my aperture. This photo was taken at f4. Which is the right aperture I would use with my Nikon 105 macro. I use this lens on my Leica q2 and have created some nice macro shots.

Top Macrovorsatz
