Repeated channel shutdown made this amp unusable for me
I tried the OSD Nero XMAX-11 for about a week in my home theater (11 channels, external processor, multiple subs), using RCA connections. My unit had a serious problem: the AMP 8/9 module repeatedly shut down during movie playback, especially during dynamic scenes โ even at moderate levels (around โ10 dB on a Denon X3800H). Once it shut down, the channel stayed dead until the amp was fully power-cycled, which strongly suggests a protection fault. I swapped speakers, inputs, and wiring, and the problem always stayed with the same amp module. All other channels worked normally. In practice, this made the amp unusable in a multi-channel system. A few other notes: -The front display backlight is always on. You can turn off the meter, but the backlight stays lit, which is distracting in a dark room. -Customer service responded, but replies took several days. -Amazonโs return was easy, though shipping a very heavy amp back wasnโt fun. On paper this amp looks like a good value, but reliability matters more than specs. I ultimately returned it and went with a Monolith 11X that has been completely stable. Bottom line: Based on my experience with repeated channel shutdowns, I wouldnโt trust this amp in a serious home theater.

An absolute MONSTER!!
HTA5200. Class A/B, no-frills, monster among beasts. It looks menacing in the best way. Using 4 of its 5 Amplifiers to power 4 of the beautiful Klipsch RF7-II Tower's (8ohm 250w Continous). I mainly listen to very busy, intense, high bitrate music w/ deep and unrelenting subsonic bass. The OSD Nero HTA5200 is up for the task. It'll easily handle the less demanding cinema signals. All of the connections are robust and feel very firm. Trying RCA and XLR to compare and because I'm an idiot and two of my patch cables are too short. Can't tell any difference in quality. If there was a problem with noise introduction or distortion, I'd know. It would be very obvious when connected to the Klipsch towers because they are so sensitive/efficient. 101db @ 1m / 1w.

Remarkable build quality
I also bought this due to Youthman's youtube channel special code that day. This is replacing a 25 year old (still working) Anthem Statement A5, 5 channel power amp. Thinking it's just a matter of time before the Anthem gives up the ghost, I've have been pondering replacing it before that happens. When I saw this on YouTube, it was a no brainer and I went for it. This thing is so well built and is actually heavier than the much more expensive Anthem. It sounds amazing but only time will tell whether it will have the long-term reliability of the Anthem. Again, the build quality is simply amazing for the price, even without the early adopter discount.
