GL.iNet GL-BE9300 Flint 3 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router 5 x 2.5G VPN Router

Amazing router that does literally everything that it advertises it’s doing. The app is a very strong app and it has cloud connectivity just in case you’re not on network so you can manage a lot of different things just from the cloud. It’s easy to set up and it has very good range and given the Wi-Fi seven aspect of it. It has line of site hardwire Wi-Fi speeds which for me can hit up to 2 GB symmetrically. It’s quite funny to have other tech people come into my house and not know what router that is because the company is not crazy popular and be very impressed by it. I can’t recommend it enough if you need just a router. My personal only gripe with it has been that it doesn’t do matter over Wi-Fi so it doesn’t have any sort of matter radios in it so I had to buy an extra external matter hub to do that. But I do think that’s a pretty specific use case and is easily worked around and does not diminish the quality of this router whatsoever. GL.iNet likely has a customer for life between the Flint three and the Flint two.

2.4/5/6ghz WiFi 7, open-wrt (Linux) firmware by default, easy to use and configure, feature packed, dedicated IoT network, fast as hell, great range. This is the one. Buy it and you're good for years.

Slick UI on top of openWRT, easy VLAN tagging, easy repeater mode, easy LAN setup, adguard integrated, and more. I can't believe I lived without it until today. Replace your garbage Quantum or Centurylink or Cox main wifi pods with this beast and retake control of your life!

The GL.iNet GL-BE9300 (Flint 3) has been an outstanding upgrade for my home network. Setup was quick and easy, and the user interface is intuitive, even for users who aren’t networking experts. The tri-band WiFi 7 performance is excellent, delivering fast speeds, low latency, and reliable coverage throughout my home. It handles multiple devices simultaneously without any noticeable slowdowns, making it perfect for streaming, gaming, video calls, and smart home devices. I also appreciate the advanced features and customization options available for power users, while still being simple enough for everyday use. The build quality feels solid, and the router has been stable and dependable since day one…. Get this is you want a super reliable 2.5G router with WiFi 7, 6Ghz, adguard, vpns, and about every feature that any home or small business user would want. Do not get this if you want really good WiFi range. It is usable but not great. The WiFi will cover my 2000ish sqft house with the router in the very center of the house, but just barely. If the router was nearer one end of the house it would not come anywhere near covering it. This router has about half of the wifi range of my ISP provided TMobile modem/router. Also if you want to use the USB 3 port to setup an external hard drive or thumb drive as a basic NAS the speeds are not great. Transfers can spike to like 100mb/s, but after a second they drop to about 30mb/s. I have tried several different drives, even ones that have speeds of 200mb/s+ when connected directly to my PC, all do about 30mb/s connected to this router. I tested this with drives formatted in NTSF, EXT4, and exFAT, it did not seems to effect the speeds. Perhaps this is something they they can improve through a firmware update at some point. Overall I am pretty happy with the router. It has been a very solid 2.5G router, I have had zero issues with long 260MB/s transfers to and from my home nas. I think that it restarted itself once in the month that I have been using it. The interface is excellent and it can do basally anything that you would want. Very easy to use adguard and vpns, I have been using it with PIA, it has been working very well, I have not really even noticed any decrease in speed or increase in latency, although I am sure there was some impact. Other then the limited range wifi is pretty solid, 6GHz works well and is certainly faster then 5Ghz, but you have to be pretty close to the router to get all that high of speeds due to the weak Wifi. WiFI 7 is pretty cool, it works with most old devices they just run on the bands that they support. The only device that I have that does not work with it is a 7+ year old Amazon Kindle paperwhite, and I can just connect it to the straight 2.4ghz band. Also I like that this company seems committed to very long term firmware support Overall a good router, but falling short of being great mostly from the poor wifi range. If they could improve their antennas or something and get like 50% more range it would be pretty great. Also this is a fairly minor complaint but I really feel like the USB 3 port is too slow at 30MB/s to be all that usable for a NAS storage device, it really needs to be able to handle something like 100MB/s sustained speeds. The main reason why the poor range on this router really bothers me is because my old router, the one provided to me with my TMobile Home internet has really exceptional range. It can be at one end of the house and easily reach though the whole house 50ft through like 5 walls to the other end of the house. It also reaches like 100-150ft out into the yard. It was made by Nokia so I guess it makes since that they would really know how to make some exceptional antennas. While this router placed in the very center of the house just barely covers the whole house, and does not really reach out into the yard at all, so it has less then half of the range of the old router. I live out of town so this is not from interference. So I think that the antennas on this router are just not very good. Overall a decent router and recommended if you do not mind the mid WiFi range.

This is an amazing router. After relying on my ISP for a router which they controlled, having the freedom and power of this router is amazing. The web ui is intuitive and the openWRT software is excellent as well. So far the range is great and the flexibility to reserve IPs and list connections is great. There are additional features as well that I have yet to explore. Great router for the money!

Suuuuuuper fast. But horribly buggy. The firmware is beta testing level firmware. Literally. I plugged a picture of the firmware into ChatGPT and it was like “Oh this is SNAPSHOT firmware, that explains it. This is not a stable release.” This is still a good router. It’s OpenWRT based and has great hardware. Buuuuuuut. Don’t run WiFi 7 features yet. (Unless you enjoy dropped internet and constantly power cycling the router.) You can improve stability on this router by: - Turning off MLO - Turning off 6 GHz - Turning off Randomized BSSID This router is basically all the newest Qualcomm chipsets, a powerful CPU, great hardware, and the most cutting edge WiFi 7 beta software. I set it up months ago for maximum speed. MLO enabled, 6 GHz / 5 GHz / 2.4 GHz all on. It was FAST! 1,000 down and 1,000 up on my iPhone in the same room or one room over (1 interior wall between me and the router). But after a few weeks I noticed it would have stability issues. Wifi symbol on my iPhone would disappear and reappear rapidly. Network connections would drop. The only fix was physically unplugging the router, waiting 30 seconds, and plugging it back in. Yippee! It’s like computers of the ‘90s all over again. The router was like a finicky race car. Fast… when it wasn’t totally broken. So I turned it into a boring Toyota Corolla. Turned off MLO, turned off 6 GHz, and turned off randomized BSSID. Now I get 400-600 down and 300-400 up. It’s fast enough that I don’t care. I will never notice the speed difference on this tiny screen in my pocket. What I will notice is that THE FREAKING INTERNET WORKS AGAIN?!? I use Ethernet for my laptop because I’m an adult and treat my work as an adult should. Ethernet is the no nonsense fast option. No packet loss. No added ping. Fastest possible speeds. No WiFi troubleshooting. If you have a laptop, plug it into Ethernet. You’re a good person. You work hard. You deserve Ethernet. For everything else (you can’t plug your phone into Ethernet and walk around he house tethered to a cable) I recommend turning off all the fancy new WiFi 7 features on this router. Unless you like being a beta tester. Then yea keep those features on. …and thank you for your service. In 3-5 years when this WiFi 7 stuff is stable thanks to your years of dropped connections and bug reports, I will salute you and turn on MLO / 6GHz / etc… For now I prefer the Toyota Camry of internet. So I turned off all the fancy stuff and run this router like a Toyota Camry. Boring and reliable.

This router is wifi 7 and has all the amazing features a homelabbing nerd would enjoy. The ability to setup adguard and have a friendly user interface to configure every device locally is sensational. Definitely the best router I have ever owned and never had an issue with it. Definitely worth the money, best bang for the buck. Setting up security has been extremely easy as well, no issues and has additional features such as configuring your vlan if needed as additional security.

Great router. After years of trouble with my VPN. Finally, this router solved it. Great connection and easy to use and set up!

I finally upgraded our home network to the GL.iNet Flint 3, and I couldn't be happier with the decision. With all the smart devices, tablets, and phones connected in our house, our old router was seriously struggling, but this Wi-Fi 7 tri-band setup handles everything flawlessly without a single dropped connection or buffer screen. The real selling point for me, though, was the built-in family features. With my son Austin and my 7-year-old daughter getting more active online lately, my wife and I desperately needed an easy way to manage what they can access and when. The GL.iNet interface makes it incredibly simple to set up strict usage schedules, pause the Wi-Fi on specific devices during dinner or homework time, and filter out inappropriate content. It gives us total peace of mind without requiring an IT degree to figure out the settings. I'd never heard of this brand before starting to search for a replacement for my Asus ROG GS-BE18000 that's got problems with it's firmware (yes Asus you've broken your router). I saw this Flint3 as a short term cheaper replacement than the £300 Asus Wi-Fi7 router that I need to RMA. Well this £180 Flint3 out performs the more expensive Asus by about 60%. What do I define as 60%? Well the Wi-Fi 7 signal is now strong throughout the house, all compatible devices are getting a full signal (I live in a 5 bedroom semi-detached with 200 devices throughout the house). The speed of the internet is now a consistent 900/900 which we pay for. There's no buffering, there's no waiting for websites to load up anymore, everything is instant as it should be. The games consoles are getting decent speeds again (the Asus was slowing them down no matter how I configured it!). The GL-iNet Flint 3 has now converted me to their brand. I'll be taking a close look at their new flagship later this year as their platform is stable, easy to configure and just works as advertised, which is something that's rare in the technology sector. Highly recommend this product and the brand, as they appear great value for money, with excellent coverage and security backed up by a stable software build. Nothing beats stability when it comes to the internet.
