Imagination
I'm a nanny.. and the mature 5 year old and I played with this for some time.. She was very imaginative creating amusement parks and zoos. Yes some of the animal pieces did slip out of place, you just needed to re-insert them differently. I am now buying this for a friends daughter. I thought it was a traffic toy.

This is an amazing play set
Absolutely love this toy set. My kids had it and played with it for years. I boxed it up when they grew out of it and now the grands play with it. It does come with a handful of tiny pieces, but they aren't necessary for play and can be taken out. The other pieces are bigger than standard Lego blocks. Just like any other construction set, it's better put in a bin and pulled out for focused play for younger children.Just a tip for people having a hard time putting them together, you have to push until you hear it click and they will absolutely stay together. So we'll, in fact, that they are a little hard to get apart.

Pieces slip apart
My 5 yr old was very excited and persistent about putting the pieces together according to the picture. This wasn't easy, and when I tried to help her, I found that the pieces for putting together the animals, were not molded to fit together, but are shaped in such a way that they can't grip each other. So we could get the animals put together a few seconds, and then the pieces would slip apart. We did not find this to be true with the non-jungle related parts, such as the blocks which snap on to the rectangular pieces. However I was very disappointed with this product overall, and will probably try to bring it back.

Kids like it, parents hate it
I thought this would be basically a girly version of Legos. It is, except that it has hundreds of little tiny pieces, plus pieces that are just invisible on the carpet. If your child is not good about putting their toys away when they are done, or if you have a young child or pet in your house, DO NOT BUY THIS! Otherwise, it is good for their imaginations and manual dexterity.

I wish I had this when I was little
When I first saw the Ello system, I was exceited because I had never seen this type of toy for girls before. My brothers used to have all kinds of building sets, which I played with, but I would have liked making the frames and jewelry. My 11 year old plays with it, and so does my 5 year old niece (who is exceptionally good with small parts...don't think my daughter could do it at her age). I just gave durablity 4 stars because you do have to keep all the parts together.

We love Elo!
I bought my daughter her first ELo set when she was four. She is now 6 and she has played with it consistantly over the past two years. I can't say this about very many of her other toys, but it seems as if she rediscovers Elo every few weeks. It is such a great toy. It fosters creativity and imagination in a way that very few other toys can do. Even though it is marketed to girls, our 7 year old neighbor boy, who is no sissy, loves to come over and play Elo with my daughter. I highly recommend this toy to anyone.
