Very good case, but double-check the colors before ordering
I ordered this case from Amazon and the colors were different than as shown in the picture [but Amazon has corrected the photo since then].Now, about the case itself. This is my 3rd Speck Candyshell case. For my iPhone 4S, I had the Candyshell and the Candyshell Flip, and both provided excellent protection. I drop my iPhone about once a week, and there is never any damage to the phone or the case from these drops. The candyshell flip case for iphone 5 is made of identical material and has the same design as the one for the 4S. On all of my Candyshell cases for 4S and 5, the earphone hole is big enough for apple earbuds but too small for many other earphones, and the hole for the lightning connector isn't big enough for Apple's new lightning-to-30-pin adapter. But the "flip" feature solves both problems. The bottom section of the "flip" case folds all the way back, not just half-way (as shown in the photos at Speck's website). If you read a lot of customer reviews of Candyshell cases, you will see one common complaint: very fine scratches accumulate pretty quickly on the Candyshell's glossy surface (which is mainly just the back of the case). The scratches are more noticeable on darker color cases than lighter ones. To me, this really isn't a big deal: After some time, they form a kind of patina on the back of the case, which makes it less shiny. When I'm holding the phone, the back is facing away from me, so I don't see it. Other people may see the back of your case, but not close up so they probably won't notice these super-fine scratches. I don't think these scratches significantly reduce the case's aesthetic value. But this is just my opinion. Some people are pretty upset about this, and their opinion is just as valid as mine.So you could get a better idea of what these scratches look like, I posted pictures here of my 6-month-old blue/black Candyshell Flip for iPhone 4S [which Amazon seems to have removed in January 2013]. It is made from exactly the same material as the model designed for the iPhone 5, so what you see here is a good indicator of what you're likely to see on your case if you buy one of these for your iPhone 5. I posted two pictures of it: one is very close-up and shows the patina of fine scratches has dulled the back. But in the other picture taken from 1 foot away, you probably wouldn't notice them if I didn't tell you they were there. From some angles, depending on where the light is, you can see that the back of the case is a bit duller, but from others, you really can't tell.If you're not sure whether this will be a problem for you, buy the case from Amazon or other seller with a no-questions-asked 30-day return period. This is enough time for scratches to accumulate (it'll start right away) and the patina to form, so you'll be able to see for yourself what the problem is and whether it bothers you enough to return the case.In summary, the Candyshell Flip provides excellent protection, the flip feature is very convenient, and it comes in several fun color combos. The only downside is that the glossy plastic back of the case accumulates fine scratches, which will bother some folks more than others.

I love this case
I've gone through a lot of cases for my IOS devices - iPad 1, 2, 3, iPhone 4, 4s, and now my iPhone 5 and the iPod touch 5th gen I just bought for my 9 year old. Most were just "alright" but I always amassed a collection of them trying to find one that I really liked.I was on my fourth case for my iPhone 5 already, this one just a bumper, no front or back but it was a bit too polished on the outer edge of the bumper where you grip it, and I don't know how many times it slipped out of my hands when picking it up off the table or something. This one is a bit more smooth and slippery on the outside than I'd prefer, but it's not nearly as bad as the other one was.It fits the lightning cable just fine, can insert it fully - no part of the case is in the way like my previous bumper case was - it let the cable connect, but not snap fully in. It never fell out, but it never got fully inserted. No problems with this one.I also have a few devices (very expensive speaker dock and a few clock radios) that still have the old 30 pin dock plug so I really needed something that would let me use the 30 pin to lightning adapter without always having to remove the case. This one works perfectly. My first case was one that had a bottom that slid off, but I hated the "clasp" on the back that held top to bottom, because it precluded the phone from sitting flat on it's back. This one works great since there's nothing protruding in back to make it rock when it's laying down. It is on there very firmly when you have it completely enclosing the phone, but it's not too tough to pull off to expose the bottom for the larger adapters. The other area this excels compared to my previous bumper is the button feel- one of the volume buttons in my other bumper case worked, but there was no tactile feedback - you couldn't FEEL it click when pressed. With this one, there's no doubt when you press a button, you can feel it just as clearly as if there were no bumper on it at all.For the price, a great deal. If you have to access the bottom to dock this or use an adapter, this is the solution you've been looking for.

Great case, but it scratches and I wish it had more "grip"
This is a great case with nice style and good features. I do not use the "flip" functionality very often but like that it's there. I have no issues using the volume buttons or accessing the phone's vibrate switch.I do have two minor complaints:This case is made of a smooth, glossy plastic which I find is pretty slippery. (I used to have the iFrogz Luxe Lean case which was awesome; it was grippy without feeling rubbery or sticky. It felt super nice, actually.) If I'm not careful, the phone slides off my lap or even out of my hands. The small "lip" that goes around the front of the phone screen and which forms the "joint" so the lower section can flip out is made out of a more rubbery material. I wish they had extended that lip around the entire edge of the case to give it a little more grip. (Speck does make a case called the "Grip" which is covered in raised rubber ridges to make it more grippy. That was too far in the other direction for me.)Another issue is that the case is prone to scratches. I've only had it for a few weeks but it's already covered in tiny scratches all over the back. I'm not super careful with my phone but am definitely not reckless with it; it lives either in my purse (by itself in a padded pocket), in my pants pocket (by itself), or sitting on a desk/table. No rough environments or poor treatment, so I'm not sure how it's acquired so many scratches already. They're not noticable unless you're looking for them so it doesn't bother me too much, but if you're particular about that sort of thing you should keep it in mind. Some other reviewers said that the scratches are more noticeable on darker colors, and I have the white/pebble gray case.

This is my 4th Speck case purchase and as always ...
This is my 4th Speck case purchase and as always, the case fits well with all the cutouts where they should be. The colour is true to the picture and the flip bottom seals cleanly with the top. However I am deducting a star due to the finish of this case. There were sharp, protruding seams down all sides of the case and the corner rubber pieces did not smoothly join the plastic. It made for a very unpleasant feel in my hand and I spent a day shaving down the offending pieces. None of my previous cases had this issue. I have used my last case now for 3 years (I only bought this for a change of colour) and have no doubt this one will last just as long. I just wish the finish had been nicer.

Happy Hubby
Hubby happy! You can easily flip the bottom. Speck is the only brand he ever buys. Great quality and looks.

Love this case
Love this case! I've received lots of compliments on it. It's nice and slim, so I feel like my phone is protected but it isn't bulky. However, the rubber orange part around the outside does tend to get dirty fairly fast. I find especially the dye from my jeans rubs off on it when I have my phone in my back pocket. That being said, still a lovely case! Will definitely be buying more Speck cases in the future.
