Has anyone comparied Ballistol with WD-40 for cleaning guns?

The comparison is simple. If you need to fix the squeak in your door, WD-40 is what you need. It is also good at removing the sticky stuff left over when tape has been left in place for to long. If you need to clean and preserve your firearm, put your WD-40 up and break out your Ballistol, it is fantastic for your firearm needs; WD-40 is not very good long term for your firearm.

The liquid version doesn't say "cleans" on the label like the aerosol version. Does it clean fouling from a gun barrel?

It works great for cleaning guns. It is the only thing I use on my guns, in fact. For the bore, I spray it down in and then pull a bore snake through a couple times and it gets it perfectly clean.

Will this clean corrosive salts from primers and powder in a firearm

To effectively remove corrosive salts you must use water. A 50/50 mix of Ballistol and water is great to spray down the barrel and into the action right after shooting corrosive ammo, but to prevent rust it's best to clean all the parts with water, dry thoroughly, and apply a thin coat of oil.
